Re: Work

Just got an email. Apparently my presentation stood out and I’ve been asked to schedule an interview. Meanwhile in my current role I’m still stuck down at Ports as they are interviewing other candidates for the Richmond spot. They had to advertise it internally, and unexpectedly they had 4 other peo...

Re: What are you eating ??

Rump steak and hash browns. The steak was from a butcher. Ten times better than the supermarket crap. We’ve had a paddock to plate meat wholesalers open near us. Butchers locally have been very over priced so hasn’t been economical though the quality is much superior to supermarkets. Now with the w...

Watching some engineering on a mad 3 wheel drive trike where you sit inside the front wheel... If anyone's intrigued https://youtu.be/Hkdsy0UtYOo?si=x-s_44hzqKxaSDq_ Interesting concept and some great engineering but my old bones just think sitting in the wheel you have zero dampening from suspensi...

Re: Work

It may be short lived. I’m working through another opportunity that has come up. It’s a government role that is far more challenging and engaging, 40% increase in salary, car/phone/laptop, WFH/Office hybrid, with site visits. The organisation doesn’t know yet that there is going to be a vacancy. Th...

Re: Work

They posted internally the role at the RAAF Base to keep everything above board, and asked me to apply for it.

3 other people have applied for it as well so now I have to interview on Monday for it (lol)

Stonesie wrote: 05 Apr 2025, 19:23 Ok so my assessment got rescheduled to this Monday, and has now been cancelled with no explanation.

The only thing I can think of is the CD-30 from the GS crash I had, so in another 18 months those will expire and I can try again.
That’s a bit average that there has been no communication why.

Re: Work

HR posted an internal job vacancy for a position at the RAAF Base just down the road from me, with the express direction from my Ops Super to apply for it, so they can action my transfer "ethically". Application submitted.

My 3-4 hrs of commute per day are numbered it seems (party)

I know taking up new hobbies in your later years is quite common, but do you reckon you'll find a corset in your size? (giggle)

Sounds like you've found just the right place for you Kiwi, and once they realise the asset they've discovered I expect they'll look at every opportunity to retain you & maximise on your potential. It’s funny you say that. It’s something I’ve been struggling with lately. The Ops management grou...

Re: Work

Well it’s hit a road block somewhere within corporate levels. My Ops level management are all in agreement so a bit frustrating. My current Ops Super is super cranky but I’m sure it’ll happen.

Regardless, I’m chasing a few other opportunities outside of Defence that have come up too.

Re: Work

Just at the end of 3 weeks face to face training with Defence at my local RAAF Base. Definitely enjoyed the 8.30 am starts and 20 min commutes. The courses have been designed for Defence personnel and contractors that have had no fuels experience at all, so have been a bit of suck eggs other than le...

We get heaps of them where I am, just fished one out of pool!

They like you to catch them if you can do so safely, and take them to a collection site so they can be milked to create anti venom.

I just decapitate them with the spade.

Nah, he's just faking ît to get his wife to wear her nurses uniform and look after him. Well funny you should say that cause she worked an extra shift last week to get Friday off knowing there was a good chance I’d pass on Thursday and have the day off too. But both myself and her daughter were cro...

Man flu Eye is all gummed up and a headache that won’t lift. Body aches and sinus congestion. Was supposed to be on course today but I actually past the exam and practicals yesterday. Today was for resit/re-assess if you messed up. 3 of us passed first time. So day off for me, of course I get sick (...
