Seems that so many people have forgotten about Princess Diana.
Having served the country for most of my life, I now find myself a Republican and anti royal.
I was lucky that I was on holiday in Malta when she died and no-one there seems to care. Now back in France where no-one gives a toss.

Re: Cost of Energy Crisis
Even here in France the cost of energy has gone up. Our state owned electricity company had to raise prices by about 9% this year, but the French government gave us all €100 to cover that. I am laughing because my annual electricity bill is only around €600 per annum, so I was obviously give too muc...

Re: Visor prices
I would suspect that most visors, and helmets are made in the EU and the UK does not want to be part of that. That means that manufacturers can price as they want and there might be duty added on import.

Re: Brexit thread
They probably do have passports while here in France as there is a requirement to carry ID. Funny thing is that many Brits expect them to be arrested and deported by the French, well why would they be? They have committed no crime. It is not a crime in France to exist. It is not a crime to wander al...

Re: Crighton CR700W
With a good throttle map, surely it'd be really nice to ride? low torque , linear power and probably a really nicely balanced chassis. You don't have to pin it :) Is 105 lb - ft low torque ? From a 690cc motor ? The Ducati V4S is only 91 lb - ft from 1000cc fwiw I think it'd be a real beast to ride...

I am visiting the UK at the moment. Managed to fill up with diesel today. Now got enough to get me back home to France on Friday, no shortages of anything there.

Re: Getting the Mrs on the Back
That’s what works for you Bob and that’s good, but my partner had never been on a bike before so to wait till she learnt to ride, get a licence, do her provisionals and get a bike they has a chance of keeping up would be years down the track. I bought her gear and we were off on weekends together w...

Re: Getting the Mrs on the Back
Just don't take people on the back. If they want to ride then make them get their own bike. When I was riding the Ducati 939 Supersport the wife had a new Monster 821. When we split up, the new girlfriend also has a Monster 821. I now have a BMW R1250RS so the girlfriend got her annual bonus from wo...

Re: Brexit thread
Not to sure why, but there seem to be very few Brits who visit Corsica. It is a bikers paradise, and just about every French biker that I know has been there for the roads. There were plenty of Germans and Austrians too. Given that the island belonged to Italy till about 1850, there were a few Itali...

Re: Test rode a BMW F900XR
GF was interested in one a few months ago, but having looked at a new S1000XR in light grey next to it, went for the S1000. Returned from Toulon the day before yesterday, 700 km in just under 8 hours in one hop. She never complained once. Her bike gave about 45 mpg (5.3lt/100km), my R1250RS with lug...

Re: Brexit thread
Do you know that I have not even had brexit cross my mind for 14 days now. I live in France so it should be in my thoughts that fellow Englishmen are having to put up with it, but. I decided to holiday here in France so took my R1250RS with the GF on her S1000XR and caught a ferry to Corsica. 700 km...

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Removed the horrible sticking out front indicators from the black R1250RS. Fitted some nice circular LED ones behind the BMW roundels instead. Much better visibility from all directions.

If the interfering west does not like what is happening there then either eradicate them or leave them alone and shut up. Easy. That's it?.... Those are the only two available options??? How much are you willing to donate to sort the problem? Perhaps another 10% on your tax bill? Perhaps you are wi...

I would just nuke the place, but I am an ex military man. I’m also ex military and while I never toured in the sand, being ex military does not excuse or justify that comment. I don't have to justify anything, it is my opinion and I am entitled to that in the same way as anyone else is. If the inte...

Re: Brexit thread
I don't think many of us on here would dispute that France is a wonderful place to live. In the unlikely event that you dispute that fact, you could ask Cookiemonster or BobT. France is different, not any better than the UK to live overall. Bob doesn't mention the terrible levels of anti vaxxers in...

Re: Brexit thread
Great to see that you UK dwellers are now enjoying the freedoms that you have from Brexit. Here in France, the French have not noticed that the UK has left. A few ex-pats are moaning that they cannot get their residency cards as they have lived here "under the radar" and not paid any taxes...
