Back protectors

I went into the Dainese shop today to try on their back protectors and came away undecided.

I was going to purchase a protector that fits inside the jacket pocket for very warm days as the Forcefield protector i currently have is just to sweaty on a hot day.

But they didn't have the one i wanted for inside the jacket and the latest one they make didn't quite fit inside the opening.



The more traditional Wave 2 protector they make may end up being a better option as it certainly looks and feels as though it wont get quite so clammy.



They now do a new one called the Manis which is a substantial piece of kit but perhaps not what i was looking for in this instance.

I think the original idea for Dainese came from am armadillo shell.

I think you'll be hard pushed to find a back protector that doesn't make you feel sweaty

^^^ this, and have you considered changing what you wear under the back protector ?? As you probably know from running, certain materials are very bad for harbouring the sweat, where as others a better at getting it off your skin faster.

I have the dainese wave back protector Duke and I never find it sweaty. Saying that I'm not a sweaty type of person and always wear an under suit which would wick away any moisture anyway. If you use an undershot I think you will be good with the wave version of the back protector

It isn't just the sweat. The Forcefield is super comfortable but it is effectively a big piece of foam that sits on your back so keeps heat in too.

The Dainese Wave stands off the back slightly.

I didn't spend any cash as i wanted to think about it first.

The reason I ask is I guess you know theres a Dainese shop in Streetbike (Halesowen) who may have what you want but I found another place today that quickly became expensive

This place does Astars, RST, and has a good Dainese range ... defo worth a call

Apart from the clothing, they have Shoei, Arai, Shark and AGV helmets .. all the current stuff

Cheers Spudda but i may have found what i went into the shop for (and they didn't have) for £25 on ebay.

I've been thinking for ages about getting a proper back protector to replace the one that came in my leathers as standard, being a fat lad really I need to get to a shop and try some on and see what I like and feels good under my leathers

Deffo worth trying a few on to see which are the most comfortable, but don't forget that your leathers will remould themselves in a fairly short space of time and stretch to accommodate the back protector.

Did you try a waistcoat type one on duke? I know you fancied one and I'd be interested in what you thought. They look the most comfy IMO.

No i didn't, Cookie. Dainese don't seem to do one of those now.

I'm going to the BMF show next weekend so will see what is about there.


That Manis one though had much better thought out straps that have a strap that goes across your chest holding the two shoulder straps together.
