Merry Christmas ‘24

Post by kiwikrasher »

As the honorary antipodean and ahead of you all on the global time scale…

Merry Christmas to you all (party)

I hope you all have a relaxing and enjoyable day with your closest and dearest.

Having 4 teenagers in the house I had to actually wake them all up at 9.30am!!! Far cry from previous years when they were banging on our door from 6am asking to unwrap pressies (lol)

I planned to do feck all today, but being forecast for 32°C, it looks like I’m going to have to uncover the pool and give it a clean first (facepalm)
Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.

An (all encompassing) "Season's Greetings" to all.
For me it will be a bit of a family get together, as my little brother is across from Barcelona with his wife & kids. Even my "usually dominant inner Grinch" doesn't have the sway to duck joining the our tribe, when they have flown over specially.

Can't honestly bring myself to wish "Happy Christmas" , even though I respect everyone has a perfect right to subscribe to whatever Archaic fairy story they choose. When it comes to Christianity,,,, if you believe it happened at all, it was more likely July as that is when census were done in that part of the world.... The Christians stole the December celebration from the Pagans, who I believe celebrate the days starting to get longer (the light defeating the dark) along with many of the other things we associate with Xmas even today... like Holly and Ivy etc,,,.
So Christmas may be "loosing it's meaning", but it only lost the meaning it stole in the first place.

I do like the concept of a season of goodwill though, even if just keeping it seasonal seems somewhat perverse ?

So Season's greetings & goodwill to the rest of you Slappers.
