Football without tackling
WTF. I appreciate its only training at themoment but why would a match be any different?
Its time the money men were told to do one in the football world. Playing again is just not appropriate yet.

Re: Football without tackling
The problem is the big clubs won't suffer. It's everyone else that'll have to close.

Re: Football without tackling
Don't know all the details but if the players are tested prior to the game and then kept in isolation until kick off could that work ?????

Re: Football without tackling
The problem is that they want to do a lot of games in a short period. Players would need to be tested before each match and there aren't the facilities to get the results in enough time. A couple of German clubs have already had out breaks.

Re: Football without tackling
Why should over paid entertainers be tested when NHS staff still can't UNLESS they've been showing symptoms for 3 days?

Re: Football without tackling
Because football clubs go through a private system. It's not the same one the NHS is using (some of which is based in the USA)

Re: Football without tackling
Just get each team to nominate a player from each team, they can go into a room with one ref, and in the middle of the room a subbuteo on the table.

Re: Football without tackling
Doesn't matter what I'd call it, I'm not the one playing the game. I doubt you'd find any soccer player, anywhere, who'd consider themselves to only be an entertainer...that "entertainment" is their motivation for playing.

Re: Football without tackling
Someone's motivation to do a job or what they perceive their job as is irrelevant to the job itself. The only reason footballers earn money is due to the entertainment they provide and by definition they are therefore entertainers.
Other entertainers such as TV personalities are only doing their jobs right now if they are able to exercise social distancing or are otherwise playing from home. So as long as football fans don't mind watching 5 aside football on an 11 aside pitch without tackling then sure, play the game. They'd be able to host MotoGP races so long as the crew can keep a 2m distance from one another.

There's no belittling what these athletes can do, but they are entertainers.

@Cav.
I disagree. Just because something is entertaining it doesn't mean the people providing it are "entertainers" per se... "Cops", "Live PD", etc. would be good examples.
