I use split links partly because I couldn't find any tool which 2 people agreed with eachother on.
I probably wouldn't recommend it with the bazillion torques of the BMW. Nor for road use.

Don't buy cheap and nasty for a chain tool. You will regret it.

I think I used a Afam one on a Afam chain. I bought them together. Was basic but cheap and did the job well enough
