Power commanders

Anyone running a power commander ? Or is a live remap the way to go ?

You won't need one for your bike. It's already been remapped for the decat.

I have a PC on the Suzuki, It was on the bike when i bought it from MIck. I replaced it a few years back when it packed up and I went for a separate quick shifter controls rather than through the PC.
It was set up by MSG Racing for the fine tune and i have not touched it since. I cant answer the question about pro's and cons though.

An ECU remap is a more detailed way of doing it, more parameters can be modified and features added, like the QS/Blipper on my MT-10, setting the cooling fan to come in at a lower temperature and modifying the throttle response on the ride by wire for a smoother roll-on.

By comparison a Power Commander only has the advantage of being removable, then again, so is the factory ECU map which is saved by the tuner and can be reflashed on to the bike if you return it to standard.

You also have to buy the PC then pay again for it to be tuned.

no im not sure the cat has been removed I think its just a slip on race can

That's why I asked pal. I noticed the OEM exhaust valve is still fitted and the cats are located in front of this so suspected it may still have cats fitted. If that is the case the ECU will still be taking readings from the lambda sensor and making small adjusts to the fuelling.

Unless you plan on removing the cats their will be very little benefit to a remap or power commander so better spending your hard earned else where imo.

Lol. You told me it had a full system. That's why I asked I mentioned the original and possible problems with the MOT. If it's just a slip on you'll be fine.

Didn't the S1000RR have the cat moved to the rear exhaust can on later bikes?

The cats are just before the silencer box and part of the headers.

On most S-series BMWs it sits behind the rearsets and a bit lower, you can't miss the fecking thing.

Looking back at perkles new bike thread, I would say it looks like it's been decatted but hard to say 100% from the photos alone.

Looks like the system, I have posted above was used on MY15 and MY16 bikes.

The exhaust Stonesie posts looks to be the MY17 exhaust where an extra cat (colostomy bag ) was fitted to meet Euro4 regulations.

I dont know what bike you have but assume from some posts it's a 17 plate. In that case could it be possible it's a MY16 bike on a 17 plate? The colour scheme suggests this could be possible.

A remap may still improve rideability of the bike and give you more crisp throttle inputs (and I believe you can change engine braking per gear too).

You definitely don't need to be concerned about the power output that's for certain
