I've got personal breakdown with the RAC, covers me and the wife regardless of the vehicle we're in.

Same as Nutz. Me and missus covered in any vehicle for about 60 quid a year.

£73 a year???? I pay a huge amount more. Not even my dad pays as little as that. Dam!!

As for breakdown I'm going to look into this today as well. I had a renewal come through a couple weeks back and they want 10 or 15 quid more than they did last year. I dont want to pay more going to ring them up and ask for it to be less or were just leave. It's personal breakdown with green flag so there's loads of other companies out there who offer the same

Presumably you're going to look quite carefully at the cover & exclusions, as well as the customer approval of the breakdown cover company offered.?
I would have thought that a "recovery to home" cover may be useful for you upcoming trip

Yes it's all done now. It's with Green Flag and all for £84 for 2 people personal cover. It has

Cover at home
Car and passengers recovered to preferred destination
Message relay service
Personal cover - any vehicle we am travelling in I can call out my break down

I used to be with the AA (10 years) and to be honest I've always chosen onward travel and relay because I've always enjoyed a drive and if I'm 100+miles away or more then I dont want to be out of pocket. Used to travel to Aber (wales) once a month or once every couple month and never wanted to be stuck!

However AA is blinking expensive now and me and my misses decided that regardless of whether I'm a gold member with all these benefits, would I actually use them, we do lile our UK holidays and if we are 250 miles away from our home then it's beneficial to us.

With the Scotland and isle of man trip these breakdowns may come really in handy!

Yes. If the whole thing was £73 I would have paid in full by now.

The two bikes insurance comes in at £290.

Interestingly they now mention foreign cover rather than European cover.

They are excellent for modified bikes too, I insured the RSV with them for years.

Yeah I've used them before Nutz and I renewed with them for years and then for some reason they no longer remained competitive for my needs.

Reading this I just realised I haven’t insured the GB400 yet!!! I rang my normal insurance company but it wasn’t listed on their system so they couldn’t insure me. Need to ring around a few speciality insurers.

My insurance is up at the end of March. Bennetts couldn't give me an indication today what it's likely to cost as it's too far away. They usually deal with renewals 3 weeks before the due date.

I'll start doing some calling around. It's a real ballache though with more than one bike.

Yes agree pita when rinigng round with multiple bikes and modifications.

So far I'm getting quote 496 for 3 bikes but that does include :

Protected NCB
500 Excess Protection
1500 helmet and leather cover
90 days European cover
Breakdown (European, home and full recovery)
Legal cover
