Re: Daytona 765
I wonder how competitive it will be on price?
i was reading the other day that only 37,000 sportsbikes were sold worldwide last year. Its not a big market anymore.

Re: Daytona 765
It depends where its aimed. I'm guessing it's got to hit the 959 and the F3 800 markets more than the jap markets. They could do a road legal race rep for about £13k and it would sell.

Re: Daytona 765
The brakes clearly work
That's clearly a production bike as it's got all of the road stuff on it.
It looks tiny. I like the way it's kept the Daytona look. I can't wait to see more photos. It looks very well thought out from that snap. The swingarm is sexy.
The can looks massive. I wonder if they've gone for a Moto GP look to it?

Re: Daytona 765
I think this bike has a much broader appeal than just track day users. The S1000rr remains the weapon of choice for the serious track dayer - I can't see this being anywhere near the BMW on paper. I doubt we'll see much beyond 130bhp.
Current Daytona riders are likely to want to switch up. A lot of Street Triple 765 owners have been asking for a Daytona version and I think we might see some middleweight owners switch over to Triumph if it looks good.

Re: Daytona 765
According to the MCN article it could be a limited edition to mark Triumphs entry to Moto2.
The test bike spotted had Ohlins NIX30 forks and TTX rear shock with Brembos latest Stylema calipers and suggested possibly carbon bodywork.

Re: Daytona 765
The frame, subframe and swing arm all look pretty similar to the current Street Triple so I suspect a lot of money has been saved effectively turning the naked bike into a full on sportsbike.
The 765 RS has a lot of bling on it. Triumph have found that their customers are happy to pay for the top spec models with the RS heavily outselling the S and the R models. The same pattern has been found with the new Speed Triple.
The limited edition might be true but if they sell well then there's no reason not to do a full run. Triumph tend to build as they sell which enables them to carry low sales volume bikes provided that the R&D isn't too expensive.

Re: Daytona 765
Looking at sportsbikes sales its high end, premium bikes which are selling and I imagine Triumph will pitch themselves in that sector of the market.
Depending on price point I have confidence of it being a success for Triumph and customers alike.

I think that looks REALLY good. I'm actually "surprised" at just how good the front end looks.

How long has this bike been in the works/development now??
Feels like it's been years coming.

Re: Daytona 765
It just shows how good the original Daytona was and how clever Triumph marketing is.
If you look at what the bike actually is, it's just a parts bin special, made from bits of the old Daytona and new Street Triple 765.
It will be a stunning bike and I can see me owning one but it's definitely something greater than the sum of its parts and hats of to Triumph for creating something great out of something fairly ordinary.
