Re: S1000RR v Megane at the Ring
Two people who seem to actually know what they are doing at the 'Ring..
I have a Facebook link to a Nurburgring site and there have been some quite horrendous car crashes there this year.

That's one quick Megane!
Lovely vid. Precisely why I would never go. Did you see the closing speeds to normal crappy drivers and riders?

Re: S1000RR v Megane at the Ring
The next video was the over posted on here a few months ago where loads of bikers were falling off at the same corner.
That's why I wouldn't do it.
I would go in one of the taxis though.

Re: S1000RR v Megane at the Ring
I like speed and riding quickly, but I have no desire to ever try my luck at the Nurburgring, I suspect it would run out terminally. That said the rider and driver in the vid were bang on, but it's never the quick ones that cause the problem, it's always idiots that haven't got a clue.

Last week at the Ring. Get mixed up with something like that on a bike and the rider would be in big trouble.

Don't think that will buff out. No insurance either I'd imagine. Don't you have to pay for damage to the ring fencing too?
His issue looked like he backed out the throttle too hard when he ran wide.

Re: S1000RR v Megane at the Ring
English insurance companies have said in the past that you are not covered at the 'Ring.
I think also it an eye opener as to how unsuitable your average family saloon, even the hotted up versions, is to driving proper fast on a track.

Re: S1000RR v Megane at the Ring
Ed will be along soon. we all know he pops over to the ring every year on his bikes and he doesn't hang around while riding there. Nice to see these 2 knowing what to do. Great bit of riding and driving in my opinion.
Icd love to ride around the ring. Not to go racing around just to say yes been there rode it! Apparently the roads around the ring are amazing too

...and on board from the same guy. I can't even begin to explain just how much skills/balls/track knowledge it takes to do this time on a bike at the 'Ring.
My best is a 8mins 05sec and that feels very damn fast. let alone a 7mins 23sec.

I would love to both drive and ride the ring. Definitely on the bucket list.

Can't be that fast surely if he struggles to get past a Renault megane. I bet the car was full of shopping and kids too.

Having seen the video Frankie posted today on Facebook of yesterday's crash, I think i would only do it in a Tiger tank.

It's a road Duke. There are dicks on every road unfortunately. Just a case of trying to go when it's quiet, finding some space on the circuit / toll road and using your mirrors well.

Re: S1000RR v Megane at the Ring
I get what you are saying, Blade, and it it were bikes only I might be tempted but it strikes me that its increasingly a place for drivers to completely lose all common sense and drive way beyond the limits of both themselves and their vehicles.
