Yamaha MT-09 Tracer
I'm thinking about getting a decent bike for commuting on. I need something more upright, good fuel range, comfortable, relatively cheap and reliable.

This bike is due out in March. No prices yet but it's based on the MT-09 which has an RRP of £6,700.
Good lookings pec sheet including ABS as standard, various maps you can use, adjustable seat and screen, hand guards as standard and traction control.

850cc Triple engine so it'll be good for the roads.
Any othger suggestions? There's the 800 Tiger and the new BMW, but I reckon the Beemer will be well north of £10k and I'm wary about getting another Trumpet.

Re: Yamaha MT-o9 Tracer
I think it meets all those requirements and can be used a tourer easily.
The standard mt09 might be worth a look too...

I looked at that but it's only got a 14 litre tank and no fairing.C00kiemonster wrote:

Re: Yamaha MT-09 Tracer
My guess is it'll be in direct competition with the new Crossrunner, but at £10k+ it's likely to be as silly as the Beemer.

Re: Yamaha MT-09 Tracer
The crossrunner looks crap. Really poor styling. And at just under £10k it's not appealing.

Nah ... the MT Tracer Spec is on their website though
I know the MT09 Street Rally is around £7700 so I'm guessing it'll be around that dependant on which additional add ons you have
Details
•847cc, 3-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine
•Tracer-specific D-MODE selectable running modes
•Y-CCT (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle)
•Switchable Traction Control System (TCS)
•Slim and lightweight CF die-cast aluminium frame
•Multifunction dot matrix instrument panel
•Aerodynamic cowling with twin LED headlights
•3-position height adjustable windscreen
•Upright riding position, height adjustable seat
•Large capacity long-range 18-litre fuel tank
•Main stand and ABS fitted as standard equipment
•Mounting points for optional side cases

Re: Yamaha MT-09 Tracer
That Akra system looks good.
If the Tracer comes in around the £8k mark I think I'll be very tempted.
Anyone know how much teh new Tiger800 and BMW s1000xr are likely to be?

Re: Yamaha MT-09 Tracer
After talking about this today I have taken a closer look. Its is nice looking bike. As you said a test ride on the main contenders is worth while.
If would see if there are after market kit available. Header/sump looks very vulnerable to me,, as well as the rad... especially with the roads as they are, a lot of crap fly's up which can do a lot of damage. The first thing I put on the S1 was a oil and rad guard, it looked so vulnerable.

Re: Yamaha MT-09 Tracer
Come on Frankie, how long have you known me?
There's a full list of accessories
I was thinking about an extended front fender first with the rad guards. Belly pans are available as well.
The naked version of this bike has been around for a couple of years so there's official Yam stuff and other suppliers doing bling for it.

Yeah, there where plenty of demonstrations of that today Do you get something like one front to every 6 rears on that bike ????
Back on topic... That's not a bad looking bike, but for the money that's a decent amount of kit.. The real question is, have rizoma got it in there catalogue ??
