Problems formatting an SD card...
As the title says, I'm having trouble formatting a SanDisk micro SD card that came with my camera. I've tried using the default settings, different systems (FAT, exFAT, etc) with no luck. "Windows could not complete the format" is my message each time. Ideas?

Re: Problems formatting an SD card...
Camera can detect the card and record movies/images, but the computer does not recognize that there is a card inserted into it. Windows 8, btw. The card is not locked either, I did think to check that

Re: Problems formatting an SD card...
are you connecting the camera containing the sd card to the computer or are you removing the card from the camera and inserting it into the computer ?

Re: Problems formatting an SD card...
I think what you are saying is a problem is just the way they work, mac. My Garmin Virb card cannot be detected by the computer when its in the camera.

Re: Problems formatting an SD card...
This is occurring when I remove the micro card and place it in the reader, then place it into the computer. If I ask it to open, it requests "please insert a card into SDHC" (the reader).

Re: Problems formatting an SD card...
Ok, I diagnosed it as a faulty SD card adapter. I remembered that I had one from an old phone and tried that one with no problems. Thanks for everyone's assistance

Glad you sorted it, only just read this, I was going to suggest that, also i dont know the terms but some of the older readers wont read the newest micro or SD cards. All down to the category of it.

Re: Problems formatting an SD card...
Well, it turned out even stranger. Once I out content in the card, the computer wouldn't read it using the SD slot. I had to use another adaptor to put the SD card adaptor into, and plug that setup into a USB port. But at least that worked
