I wonder who they think they represent?

Post by duke63 »

This is the turn out for an important debate on children with autism last Thursday.

Kids with serious problems who need serious help and their parents quite often at breaking point and our elected representatives could not give a shit!

Time to have a Revolution.

I guess in Australia I can be thankful that there was an Federal MP that had an Autistic child and due to that the Early Intervention Package got passed. Provided us with $12,000 funding for therapies and educational aids. It was capped at $3,000 per year, and as soon as Byron turned 7 it was all cut. But I can still be thankful that he had that head start, so many other children with other disabilities don't get the same level of funding. I met a lovely young boy and his mum at the playground one day, he had severe dyslexia, and I would say from talking to his mum, it has as much impact on his learning as ASD does for Byron, yet there is next to no framework to support him. Yet if an MP had a child with that learning challenge, I bet there would be.

Politicians I thought were there to support and govern for their constituents, but it seems time and time again they prove to be self-serving twats.
Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.
