The death of a second motorist in six weeks at a “dangerous” junction has led to calls for urgent action.
A motorcyclist died in hospital in Aberystwyth this weekend after a crash on Saturday evening at the junction of the A470 and the A494 near Dolgellau.
The 54-year-old from the West Midlands area was riding a red Yamaha motorcycle which was involved in a collision with a grey Ford Focus estate car at about 6.30pm
It wouldn't take much to make that junction safer. A set of lights would cut the speeds down.

Terrible terrible news.
I know the junction in question as me and a couple of slappers have been down there the last 2 Sundays. In fact I believe 1000rr forum were riding this same route yesterday.

Re: Another Dolgellau accident
Looking at the position of the car and bike it's looks like a " sorry mate didn't see you" these people want locking away they are more danger to road users than any spotty teen ! I don't recall a problem with that junction use it all the time . I bet the driver is a myopic old bastard with reactions of a Sloth !! - rant over

Re: Another Dolgellau accident
The danger comes from the position of the road joining the A470 and where the junction is. If a vehicle is doing a decent speed down the A470 then you've got a limited time to see them, which is why you get a lot of similar accidents where the emerging vehicle pulls out.

Re: Another Dolgellau accident
Its a poorly laid out junction. Having traffic crossing a dual carriageway to turn right is never a good idea.
And if a vehicle is turning left onto the A494 it will obscure the vision of traffic overtaking.
It needs a roundabout.
