What Dot?
What dot brake fluid do people recommend for road bikes? Is 4 still the standard or should I go with 5.1 seeing as I've got a couple of track days coming up?

ATE super blue.

Bright blue in colour so you can easily see the difference when bleeding the old stuff out and when the sun hits it, it looks cool in your reservoirs.

Re: What Dot?
I needed to get some for zx10r and called Opie Oils for recommendations. They also recommended the Motul RBf 600.
Have orderd a litre (with our discount code) which came to approx £26 incl Postage.

Re: What Dot?
Agree with Perkles, 500ml should be fine but I just thought I would order the litre as I will need more eventually and it saves spending double on the p&p cost

I could be wrong but I'm not sure it lasts that well once you've broken the seal on the bottle. Think it's hydroscopic.

I did ask Matt at Opie Oils and he said it would be fine. I will try and seal it with somethinig such as cling film under the cap.

Re: What Dot?
I put PTFE tape round the bottle top threads to seal it back up but only keep it for 2 years max anyway.Monty wrote:I could be wrong but I'm not sure it lasts that well once you've broken the seal on the bottle. Think it's hydroscopic.
500ml would be enough.
I have changed both bikes brakes (front and rear) and bled the clutch too and still got over half a litre left from original 1 litre purchase.

Unless your as bad at bleeding brakes as I amBlade wrote:500ml would be enough.

I was running 5.1 until the bike was serviced by AP and they put it back to the recommended 4. I'm going to stick with the 4 I think.

Re: What Dot?
I couldn't get the tankslap code to work so I used the 675cc one.
I guess we didn't give them enough business.

Re: What Dot?
Ah, cheers. I tried tankslap and tankslap.co.uk.
I'll make a note as I need new oil and filters next month.
