Interview for the aerospace role confirmed!

I've interviewed for the Management position in the Aerospace sector.

Well, I don't think I've ever been so nervous, nor has one ever gone better. Complete transparency throughout with the hiring Manager and when asked about why I'm choosing this career path my emotions almost got the better of me. I knew immediately why.

You guys might not know that 2024 was a horrific year for my family; it was the worst. I've been going through counselling and now CBT, and throughout this I've realised how important it is within my core values to set the best example I can for my children.

Fast forward to the interview question and my two boys were at the forefront of my mind when I answered honestly and with vulnerability.... I want to better myself to be the best I can for my children. I had to take a deep breath and ground myself.

The Manager and I really got one well, both with similar stories to tell and the hour interview turned into 2 hours, the offices were all but empty by the time we finished.

I will know which job I have by the end of tomorrow.. I just hope I can afford the offer from the Management position if I'm fortunate enough to have the offer. Bottom of the range is too low for me to accept but this is my opportunity to break into the Management world and I do believe I'd have a mentor in this Manager.

I'll keep you updated

You can't beat honesty and showing your true self in an interview. Far too many people put a mask on. Give yourself full credit for today.

This is so true.

I'm interviewing people at the moment and it's bloody hard work. The latest trend is people using chatgpt to answer the questions.

Fingers crossed the right opportunity presents itself to you

I genuinely feel proud of myself for how I conducted myself today. It was really difficult to go for this in the first place so I feel I've achieved a lot already.

I actually did use ChatGPT today for the first time just to compare my CV to the job description. It was helpful to be fair simply because it highlighted weaknesses.. just acted as a good heads up. I wouldn't use it for more than that though, I don't like using it truth be told.

I have accepted a job offer, not the Manager one but instead, the mid-senior level Mechanical Design Engineer working in automation and ERP. I'm very excited to start this ASAP!

Good News, I hope you can get your head down now and have some comfort working in a company who respect you, and allow you to get the life balance in order.

Perfectly put Fkkr1s.
Well done Cav' , fingers crossed this will be somewhere that you'll enjoy & you can progress well. Is it within cycling commute distance for you ?

Thank you all so much!

Yeah it's quite a nice cycling distance to be fair although a little bit treacherous at one point. This role comes with a company car though so I won't need to cycle if I don't want to. I may enjoy it as a change though to cycle occasionally

In other news my wife has handed in her notice

It's amazing what companies can offer you when you tell them you're leaving. Why not look after your staff before they get so pissed off they start to look elsewhere?

That's a shame.. I'm not sure I know what she does but hopefully something better comes along!

She sells new houses. She's got another job lined up. 7 minutes from where we live, £6k pay rise, better commission, paid mileage, better holiday, more weekends off.
