Got home at 7pm after a 11hr day, then started trying to clear the bathroom sink piping - for once it's not the U-bend, something has accumulated/solidified in there. It's still blocked, so I'll have to spend some hard earned on some form of gizmo to get in there and clear whatever filth and corruption is blocking it.

Got to work. Back in the prison orange overalls. Moving roles so went and cleaned out my old office. Amazing how much crap you accumulate in 3 1/2 yrs. Haven't got a set role now, just an extra till a vacancy comes up, so no set responsibility or ownership. I hate being a floater, I like getting my teeth into a role and being organised.
Least I'm only out for 2 weeks thanks to a week off with my hand injury.

Re: What are you doing today ??
More drain duty this evening, I bought and tried a gizmo. It didn't work.
So I tried chemicals. They didn't work either.
So I tried using brute force, a 100psi compressed air, that worked! Sealed off the pipe and started pressurising the offending pipe, and it went at about 45psi - kill or cure, fortunately cured this time.
Any pet ideas for dissolving soap and hair scum to ensure clean pipes?

It's no big issue, as long as you hadn't got home from working at Falmouth Docks.Deegee wrote:Got home at 7pm after a 11hr day,....

Re: What are you doing today ??
Just had another graduation parade for the latest batch of Armourers to make it out into the real Air Force.
Smiles, handshakes and summer dresses were the order of the day...
And now I'm in the bar, getting ready for a couple of shandys. A few of the new guys are staying overnight and are being introduced into the world of the Armourers beer call.
Things are about to get messy!

Internal, but made with block 90° bends as opposed to swept 90°s, hence its a pita to unclog and *can* result in your hands being scratched and damaged to the point of resembling a detailed road map.duke63 wrote:Internal or external drain?

Re cleaning chemicals, my schoolboy chemistry (V poor btw) seems to be in conflict with internet advice, a lot of sources advise using baking soda (Ph9) and vinegar (Ph2.5) in equal quantities, but surely that just ends up in a mildly alkaline salty mush? I'd have thought it better to just use baking soda and water as you say Duke?
Anyway, it's all moot, as Mrs Gee has circumvented my efforts by buying a couple of large bottles of nasty looking drain cleaner, I suspect they'll need a fair while fermenting to clean the muck out of those pipes though.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Some fecker has booked me in for a meeting with a client late this afternoon. So I've got to go to the other side of Coventry, have the meeting, drive through the rush hour traffic back to the office then get changed and ride home.
