Re: 2017 Honda Fireblade ?
Just read jonny macks thoughts he says it's way overpriced for what it is and not nice to ride, I am surprised I thought it would be a big leap forward

Re: 2017 Honda Fireblade ?
I know the race bike has been having issues with the fly by wire throttle , I believe its Honda's first on a production machine . I am wondering if this is an issue with the road bike and the reason people are not liking it . On paper it should be a better machine than the previous blades as its lighter , has more power and a better electronics package , could this all be negated by feeling disassociated with the bike through the throttle ?

I had Honda accord with fly by wire throttle ever time you pressed the accelerator it did something different,it was dangerous to drive especially pulling away from junctions

Yep......tried one of those once.....a friend bought one and thought there was something wrong with it.....very counterintuitive to drive. The answer to a question no-one ever asked.....Perkles wrote:I had Honda accord with fly by wire throttle ever time you pressed the accelerator it did something different,it was dangerous to drive especially pulling away from junctions

Re: 2017 Honda Fireblade ?
I think the extra cash outlay on the Honda is fine......provided you don't wreck the bike, it'll still have a higher resale value when it comes time to sell it, and it'll move on in time.....there's a lad down the road has had his GSXR for sale for months and zero interest from anyone at all.

MCN reckon it's the best in their 2017 superbike shootout road test.Perkles wrote:Baron Von whatever his name is just gave the new gixxer a stonking review

It's a shame the gixxer looks so shit. Fair play to Suzuki though for coming up trumps seeing as they've left the thou alone for so long.

Re: 2017 Honda Fireblade ?
I was taking to Gavin at MSG the other day and they obviously are Suzuki guys, just tested the new 1000 at Snetterton. Considering its standard out the box just with track fairings, he said the bike was very good. Will be interesting to see how they get on in Thundersport with the new bikes.

Re: 2017 Honda Fireblade ?
My mate tells me that the fireblade is sold out until July. Looks like people want one, regardless of what the journos say about it.

Re: 2017 Honda Fireblade ?
i know racing is totally different to road bikes but hearing that honda at the bsb at the weekend. You could tell the riders were struggling they were short shifting were other weren't and it was trying to spin up were all the other bikes sounded nice and smooth.
"80mph" sorry officer I possibly could not have done that I'm no Valentino Rossi.

Re: 2017 Honda Fireblade ?
There are a few comments that the Fireblade feels rushed.
I've got an open invite to take one out for a day. I need to get something sorted.

Re: 2017 Honda Fireblade ?
To be fair, journalists are lucky in that they can try the best bikes side by side and one after the other. Ridden in isolation I suspect it would harder to feel any big differences.

Re: 2017 Honda Fireblade ?
I read Performance Bikes last night. They seem less than impressed with the new bike. I see that their 2008 Blade is lapping faster than the 2017 model. That's pretty damning. It's unlike Honda to make a mess of their flagship bike.
