Good to see Uber rolling out some automatic cars.

SanFran is the ideal testbed for this sort of thing....traffic there is an absolute nightmare.....taxi or public transport is the only way to go.....like many, if not most major conurbations, I guess.

But what next on the chopping block??.....Bikes????

I'm unsure about this idea. For years and years we have been in control of our vehicles expect when we are a passenger but when we are a passenger we put our trust into someone else, not something else we can't see. I think it would take a long time for us to see this as being a safe way of getting about. It took long enough for people to like the car instead of horses

I'm reading that weaponised Artificial Intelligence is now "an operational reality".

I'm somewhat disturbed at the prospect, and unconvinced by the arguments that it reduces the risk to military personnel and increases the ability to hit targets faster & with greater precision.

However the payback from all that military spending has historically resulted in the greatest developments in civilian sectors being fed from it.

So, I'm thinking that driverless cars may well take a big boost from this development.?

driver less fork lift trucks are the norm in any decent factory now but we need a lot more understanding or road infra structure and integration before its safe imho

I apologise if my choice had raised confusion..
Fwiw the reason I revived this old thread is because I felt the recent substantive developments in AI weaponry were pertinent to the subject.
The progress in just those last four years would seem to have been substantive.
