Any hints or tips on how to keep the visor clear this time of year?

The salt leaves the roads constantly damp, which means that car tyres flick it up and my visor gets covered in a thin layer of dirty slime which is smeared when I try to wipe it off with my gloves.

As bizarre as it looks, this is actually fitted to Mike Hailwood's Ducati that he won the TT on in the late 70s.

Or you can buy a MUlti that has a convenient little glovebox on the RH infill that fits a cleaning rag in it just nicely. Haven't tried to access it underway though!

There's a visor-wiper thing that fits on one finger of your glove...it's works great for cleaning the visor, but is a bit fiddly and tight on your finger...or mine, at least.

It is NOT the one called "Visor Wiper"....just a scaled down one-blade version of it. Cost is $3 or something.

There's a glove that has one built in to it, but for the life of me I can't remember the name of it.

I've always found those visor wipers to be useless in the cold, the rubber goes hard and scrapes the dirt across the field of view rather than wiping it away. If there were a thick silicone version, similar to a cheapo phone case, then that may be better in the cold.

i had a wiper blade on my one set of gloves but i found i'd need to pick up some water off my tank to moisten it first to get it to work ok.

I find that by far the best resolve for all the problems involved with riding in wet weather is...........

It isn't a problem in the wet. The rain runs off or I can wipe it off with my glove.

The issue is that shitty road salt they use which leaves everything damp. The road crud mixes with it and you get a fine mist of it over your visor and everything else.

Rain-X works great on my car windscreen but keep your helmet in a warm place overnight otherwise it will have condensation on it from the start you will have to keep wiping it until it warms up a little from your breath.

Rain-X is not for helmets. It contains a solvent that can make the visor brittle.
Edited to add it's OK on some visors depending on what coating the manufacturer has added to the visor. The overwhelming opinion is not to use it as there are many other better purpose made products for visors anyway.

I have same problem kwacky. Roads are damp enough to flick the white filmy crap over your visor. But not wet enough to be able to wipe it away.

I've not got a solution that I use. the tennis ball or damp sponge wedged somewhere are probably your best bet.

A water pistol fixed to somewhere so that its angled and pointing at your visor wouold be good. Just not a supersoaker. they are vicious.

Someone else suggested a spray can cap on the yoke with a sloth or sponge in. The problem is trying to find it in the dark, use it and put it back while you're on the move. I don't stop in many places on my journey apart from near work or close to home.

I would need at least 3 for each ride. That's 30 a week. They're £7.50 for 5 so lets say I ride for 4 months in the year where there's road salt that's close to £200 a year.

You could use baby wipes.....and buy decent ones....'Huggies' or whatever....the cheap ones are harsh, and dry quickly, making them about as much use as sandpaper.

Keep them in a sandwich bag to retain their moisture (and to not leak every-fcuking-where!!).....or, just keep one or two behind the screen.....scrunched up, so they're easy to grab on-the-fly.

The screen is adjustable which means there's a gap at the bottom which allows air to come through. Nothing is staying in place between the dash and the screen.
