Got the Multi back from service. Been offered an exceptional deal to change for a new one. Decisions, decisions.

New Multi.
As much as i would love a Panigale too, i don't think i would get the value from it.

Is the new multi much of an improvement over your current bike ?

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Yes quite a bit. Handles better, mid range is about 1k higher in rev range but quicker after that. Bit smoother, more economical.
I might sell the 748 in a couple of years and buy a s/h Panigale. Should be cheap enough then.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
So I finally got the old crapper back together
Still lots of niggly little jobs to on it, but good enough to ride and get rego.
Took it for a little shake down ride to make sure every thing was right. Headed off down my hill, taking it easy but a bit over the 60 km limit (used to be 80, not residential at all) and a bloody copper goes past me the other way, I look down, 78 km on the speedo. Also the bike is out of rego(tax) and Pinkslip (MoT) and uninsured. (All getting done tomorrow). I see his brake lights come on, but it's a single lane each way road with 30km corners so I know I have a bit of time before he can turn around. I turned up the little access side road to my kids school and hid in a bit of bush but could still see the road below. He went past about 3 min later. Phew, time to sneak home again. Go to move off, slip on the gravel and only just manage not to drop the bike, only just managed to get it back up, it was a good 45 deg over. I couldn't believe it, I thought, all this work and I'm going to drop it standing still!
Saved that muppet event and got home. As I was packing every thing up I saw my torque wrench sitting out, I then realised I hadn't torqued up the engine bolts when I refitted the crash bungs. got another two turns out of them both.
I think that bike is either cursed or I'm a bigger muppet than I thought I was. I know heading out was not the best plan, but I thought it'd be safe enough to do a 5 km trip to make sure everything worked ok.

Looks good. Those pillion pegs and the rear seat need to go.
Shame it's not got USD forks, otherwise it wouldn't look dated IMO

At the very least polish the pegs, they look weathered in that photo.

And that tail fairing is a POS. It was from some company in the US. So badly made and shaped. I put the seat cowl on today and there was a 2 inch gap at the front, so I put the seat on so it didn't look so bad.kiwikrasher wrote:Then how am I going to convert Jess into a biker chick?? If anyone sees an OEM silver tail fairing let me know.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Oh absolutely, the whole thing needs some love. There's dust all over the rims and frame/engine etc from a life in the garage. There's enough to keep me busy on it for many more months. Still need to change out the forks when Monty sends me his. My LH compression screw is seized and nothing I can do has moved it and now the screw is rooted.Kwacky wrote:At the very least polish the pegs, they look weathered in that photo.

It went silver because I got a UJ nosecone brand new for cheap and it was silver. But to be honest I like it shed lots more than the yellow or red.C00kiemonster wrote:A rare old bird in Silver too look great. I do miss mine tbh.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
fitted the new screen ,should have taken ten minutes but the rubber fasteners all decided to fall out and get lost into the fairing abyss so it took over an hour
Not sure I like it tbh looks a bit chav, glad I only bought the single bubble as it looks very high compared to standard

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
I've got loads of spare rubber screen mounts and screws. They're a right PITA.
That does look tall, almost like an endurance screen. Which model is it?

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Passed the Pinkslip (MoT), developed an oil leak on the way back home. LH boot covered in oil. Appears to be coming from the top of the stator cover where the wiring comes out. Reasonably easy fix but I don't have time to touch that bike again this break.
