Headstock Paddock Stand or Abba?

Need to drop the forks or my Daytona to change the fork oil finally.

Already got a pair of paddock stands, but as the front goes under the fork leg at the axle, its no good.

Am I better off buying a front headstock paddock or an Abba??

Any suggestions on brands etc?

Front headstock. Abba on its own doesn't lift the front, just takes some weight off it and lifts the rear.

I use a headstock stand and useful bit of kit to have.

Abba sell a front arm lift or something for about £45 which when used with their stand will lift the front. The advantage of this system is you can also check the head bearings which you can't with a headstock stand.

I used some ratchet straps from the garage roof through the top yoke.

I've dropped the forks out of my 675 using the front headstock paddock stand.

I do have an Abba stand too. Great bit of kit IMO, but just not really the right tool for the job in this situation. The adapter that Blade pointed out looks like it makes it more feasible though,

I don't know anything about changing the fork oil (beyond it being a good idea!) but I do know the Abba stand is incredibly easy to use. To raise the front I then just use a normal car trolley jack under the exhaust manifold.

IMO for the money and quality the Abba with front arm I posted cannot be beaten. If you haven't got an Abba they are brilliant so easy to get on the stand on your own, you can check head bearings which you can't on a headstock stand as the stand supports what your checking and also it doesn't compress the rear shock like conventional paddock standards so easy to remove rear shock and linkage for maintenance / greasing. Great bit of kit. I have about 5 stands I have collected over the years but if I only had one it would be the Abba.

Alternatively if you do want a dedicated head stock stand I have this one and can thoroughly recommend. Its well supported with different adapters to fit different bikes which not sure if others are.

That's a smart idea! Didn't think of that!

A cheap alternative to the Abba arm lift and avoiding damage to your manifold (definitently don't jack of the sump) by using a trolley jack is get on the Abba stand and put a ratchet strap round the swingarm and ratchet down to something solid on the floor basically the same as the arm lift but free

Like the idea of finally having the Abba, but it will be useless on the CB1000 I also own.

The ghost bikes paddock stand looks like its going to be a little flimsy too.

Anything further suggestions to headstock stands? If I buy a headstock one I can use in both bikes then.(and sell the set I already have)

The Harris headstock stand I have has different attachments for different bikes. There is a chance one particular attachment may fit both bikes that you own but cannot be guaranteed without checking. Perhaps give Harris performance a ring. Even if your not planning on buying from them, their very helpful and I'm sure they will be able to tell you if the same attachment would fit both bikes.
