Maybe not quite the same but I had this happen on a car I owned (2001 Pug 306GTi6, favourite car I've owned) and it was a case of head off, check for damage (of which there were 2 bent valves in 1 cylinder), repair damage, reset the timing and bobs your uncle. Drove perfectly after that.

I hope there's no major bills headed your way.

At least a top end rebuild,bottom ends usually survive a valve kissing the piston
Don't worry about a rebuilt engine if they are done properly they are as good as new,I'd rather have a rebuilt engine than an exchange with unknown history

Bloody hell not good Kwacky. You have done so much work to the thing sounds a shame to just not bother repairing now...could be a good time to give the engine a rebuild with upgraded parts?!

I'm waiting to see the extent of the damage but I reckon I'll be lucky if it's £1,000 to fix.

I might throw in the towel, cut my losses and sell it as scrap.

Bloody hell that is a nightmare. I can see why you wouldn't want the hassle of paying that to be honest. You would get a lot back from the parts individually you have bought for it in the recent months

Top end is about as bad as it gets....I'd sell TBH....I tried replacing the motor in the 650 with a 600 after mine went and it was a MAJOR let-down performance wise....plus the bike will always feel crummy...better to start over...you'll feel better, and there's nowt like a new bike to get your mood up.

Top end isn't a problem if you have a good engine builder,Ive built quite a few car engines where the valves have hit the pistons and nothing else was damaged.The trickiest part is timing the cams in ,everything else is straightforward.It shouldn't be a problem for Mike
If it was me I would consider getting a nice rebuild ,blue printing the engine and keeping it as your track hack

Let's discuss it over beers I've built quite a few engines so know what I'm looking for.1st off you need to the extent of the damage which unfortunatley costs money for a strip down

Had an Astra GTE throw all 16 valves into the pistons years back. Engine rebuilt and as good as new. Fortunately cost me fook all as done as warranty.

Was it one of those Jelly mould ones with the LCD dash.? -I had one too. Fwiw my engine never gave me any issues, but I hated the body roll.
