poorly kwak
On my way to Mike's. Bike seems fine. About 20 miles into the ride there's a rattle from the front right, by the side of the tank. Bike starts to lose power than dies. I started it as I was rolling along and it did the same thing so I coasted to a stop.
The bike does start but it's rattling.
No engine light on the dash so that's ruling a few issues out.
The CCT was getting noisy. Best case the CCT has failed and it's not done any damage, Worst case I don't want to think about.
Mike will hae a look at it next week. He's got the tools to do a full inspection without stripping the engine so it'll take him about an hour to know what's happened.

Re: poorly kwak
It wasn't that bad a noise to be honest. I had noticed it last week so thought it was time to start doing some investigating. I was going to ask Mike about it today.
When it started going on the CBR600rr it was really loud.

Re: poorly kwak
I didn't. I was on my way to Mike, the mechanic I use, to have the rear shock link replaced. I got about 4 miles away from his work so I called him and he came and collected me.
My wife went to his house, Mike dropped me off there.

Yeah, he's looked after me. He called my wife to let her know what was happening and arranged where to meet.

Re: poorly kwak
Mike hasn't had chance to look at the zx6r as he's busy with bikes that have been booked in, which is fair enough.
I don't want to push him as I know he wasn't expecting to have to work on this one and when I went there last week he had 8 other bikes in the garage he was currently working on as well as the ride in bookings.

Helps your cash flow too I'd imagine. At least you know it's in safe handsKwacky wrote:Mike hasn't had chance to look at the zx6r as he's busy with bikes that have been booked in, which is fair enough.

Re: poorly kwak
Initial inspection has revealed that piston cylinder 3 has hit something, plugs battered and there's no compression, so Mike suspects that the valve has gone.
He's going to dig a bit deeper and remove the exhaust and take the head off.
****. Sounds expensive already. I'll see what Mike says. I'm already torn, I've spent shit loads of money on it, not least £300 upgrading a shock I've barely used, yet I always have doubts about the engine even if it's fixed.
