Michael Schumacher latest
Not looking good is it? I wonder if they are keeping him alive because of who he is rather than anything else.
What a sad place to be for his family.
To do such a dangerous job all those years and then for a seemingly innocuous accident to have such a devastating effect.

Re: Michael Schumacher latest
In reality he's already gone. There will be very little of his personality left, if any at all.
Someone is going to have to make a very difficult decision in the near future.

Re: Michael Schumacher latest
I keep an eye on all the latest in the hope someone might have some good news to report. Unfortunately it's not looking likely
Not sure if he is still on a life support because if he isn't there's not a lot that they can do really. Permanent vegetative state is worse than end of life if it was me

Re: Michael Schumacher latest
Doctor Gary Hartstein, the sport’s medical delegate until 2012, wrote on his blog: "As time goes on, it becomes less and less likely that Michael will emerge to any significant extent."
I'm more inclined to go with this. Head injuries like this are serious. There's a reason why his family are building something for him at home. He's going to need 24 hour care even if he does wake up.

Re: Michael Schumacher latest
Whilst I'm not a fan I feel for the guy and his family, to have been a vibrant fit human being with so much to live for and potentially to end up in a PVS is horrific, in fact it's my worst nightmare and I've left clear instruction to ensure that doesn't happen to me.
Jack - did your Grandad recover to be the same person he was before the accident, or was he permanently altered?

Re: Michael Schumacher latest
he spoke french when he woke up , thought his wife was his mum ,took another 6 months for him to get his personality back, he had to use crutches and wheelchairs for the rest of his life but due to the other injuries he sustained . I dont really remember him from before the accident but he seemed to gain back all his memories from before it happened as he used to tell me stories when I used to skip school and go into London with him to visit the museums and other places of interest

Re: Michael Schumacher latest
Apparently the good news was a hoax. There are some unbelievably sick and sad people in this world.

Re: Michael Schumacher latest
I would add grasping to sick & sad, presumably the hoax was in order to promote hits on a website and sell advertising, although why anyone would want their business associated with that kind of thing I really can't fathom.

That makes it sound like he's not going to wake up. Tragic for all concerned.
