Still hurting in the mornings till I've "freed up" a little bit and still wearing the brace, been signed off till end of October so every cloud and all that!
Like I said most worrying thing is the missus' opinion towards bikes now, it was bad before, will have to wait till at least next year by the looks of it... :-(

Completely understand there would be no conversation with some people and believe me if it was just the two of us I would have another bike sat in the garage as we speak... But she brings the kids into the equation, which may or may not be 'fair'... Depending on how you look at it I suppose!

I've had none bikers suggest it's selfish of me to ride a bike seeing as I've got kids.

The biggest killer of young adults in the UK is cars, but no one suggests our youngsters shouldn't get in a car.

People who don't ride can't understand how much we enjoy this method of transport.

I ride both a pushbike and a bike my wife lets me get on with it despite a few accidents
I feel far more vulnerable on the pushbike ,some car drivers are just inconsiderate assholes

I was a biker before I met my missus or had kids. My family know how important bikes are in my life so embrace it and understand it's part of me as I respect there hobbies, believes and wishes. Don't get me wrong I'm part of a family and my responsibility as a father and a husband are very important to me. Personally I don't see it as being selfish to be a biker, husband and father and I'm fortunate enough to have a family who share my views which I realise won't be the same for everyone. As long as we are sensible and respectful of our responsibility to our families personally I think we can ride bikes and be a good father and husband. We can't stop being who we are just to be part of a family. In my view everyone in a family has to repsect all members are also individuals with individual points of view, passions and needs and as long as that can be respected a family unit works IMO. All life has its risks. Risk awareness and risk management are key elements to enjoying live and keeping safe. Each to there own. There is no one correct fits all situations answer here, but any answer must meet all sides needs as one way decision making never works IMO.

Forgot to add. Something I always say when people say motorbikes are dangerous is I tell them there talking rubbish. I tell them I have two motorcycles set in my garage right now causing no one any danger. Riders and conditions are the elements that are dangerous. Danger occurs when inputs or commands are made to a motorcycle that are inappropriate for conditions or skill level of the rider. Motorcycles on there own are never dangerous. Without a rider they are dormant machines. If people consider an individual to be a safe and sensible person I can see no reason why they wouldn't be a safe and sensible motorcycle rider.

Not everyone wants to ride bikes but my bikes are a huge part of who I am.

Without riding i would be a very lost soul. Better pick-me-up than any drink or drug.

I hope work have been accommodating over this with full pay etc. I guess this will be long term recovery. Must be very soul destroying thinking of all that Jeremy Kyle your watching and loose women!!

Don't think about any biking adventures yet mate. When your fully recovered that's when the conversations can start to flow again. You need time to relax and get strong again. She's hurting and she needs time to emotionally recover. I don't think your be ready to ride at all this year anyway due to weather changing how. Best bet will be to wait until spring at a guess.

As Andy has said IAM is great, and may help your misses to look at biking in a different angle, safety Is paramount in the IAM. However that is prob best to leave to the long term game!
