Re: The new improved fitness thread
Then you had a deprived childhood!!
M54 to J6 (Telford West), take a left on the A5223, at Horsehay r/bout take a right on the A4169 towards Buildwas and Much Wenlock (keeping an eye out for cameras at the bottom of the hill, it's a bit of a fast ride down, you'll see what I mean), at the bottom take a left to Much Wenlock, turn right onto the A458 for about half a mile, then left onto the B4371for Church Stretton. Top road, this, it's a grand ride across Wenlock Edge. At the traffic lights cross the A49 into CS town centre and just keep going up, the road is The Burway and it's feckin steep!!!! Carry on across the Long Mynd to Bridges, take a right and you'll end up in Shrewsbury.
Suggest you pack it into your next ride out west, I promise it's well worth it, and if you want company then I'll meet you at Telford Services at M54 J4. Much better to do it going east to west as if you do it the other way then you come down the hill and the road is right on the edge and it's an unfenced 300m drop...

The road across Wenlock Edge is a cracking ride when the road is quiet, almost like a rollercoaster.edski675 wrote:Then you had a deprived childhood!!

Must confess I have not been up the Burway for years and certainly not on the bike at all. Seems like a plan for the Multi next time.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Was supposed to go running today, but it was 25 degrees this afternoon so didn't fancy it. Went out on the push bike instead, did a quick loop of 13 miles in about 49 mins. Quite happy with that and am back to club running tomorrow evening.
Apparently a few guys at the new company go running at lunch times, so should be able to use that to start upping my weekly mileage.

I went to the gym yesterday but it was far too hot. I lasted about 35 minutes.
Taikwondo tonight.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I made a big ol' speech last night on Facebook accompanied by a picture of me and my expanding waistline. If anything is going to kick start me into training again, embarrassing myself on a public forum has to be a good start.
0530 wake up this morning for an hour down the gym before work.
Legs and shoulders today. It hurt, but it felt awesome to be back in there.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Kudos on your continued motivation mate.. with all thats being going on my 1/2 marathon plan went out the window and I haven't run for nearly six months now. I just need to start again and I'll be right, but it's so easy to be lazy, especially offshore.D6Nutz wrote:Just over 5 mile run with the club tonight, quite relaxing really.

Keep it up mate and you may motivate me to get going

Mate, I've only just checked my emails!Kwacky wrote:did you get my email with the HIIT?
Yes, I got it, thanks very much for that. I'm going to have a look at it very shortly.
Worked my back this morning, then played squash afterwards. Two days on the trot, a run planned for tomorrow. Definitely getting back into the swing of things.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Cheers kk
10k went well tonight, decided not to try for a pb but for consistency instead. Ran a 56:20 which is bang on for a 2 hour half marathon. Very happy with that, now to start pushing the distance up.

I'm back onto my cycling in the morning after a few weeks holibobs and injury. I can happily do 30kms in 1hr 10ish three times a week now so it's time to step up the mileage.

5 mile training run on the half marathon course with a few guys from the club.
Feck me, they weren't lying about the hills.
Feeling a but tired note and looking forward to a day off tomorrow.
