The eyes no longer have it
As many of you will know I've had a problem with my left eye for a few years but the right eye was still good so driving, riding, reading, working etc. was fine. Unfortunately on Thursday I realised I could actually see less in my right eye than my left and so went to the Birmingham and Midlands Eye Clinic where they found that I've had the same thing happen to my optic nerve in the right eye (non-arteritic ischemic anterior optic neuropathy fact fans) which is permanent and untreatable. So that's it....I am now permanently partially sighted and I am never going to be able to drive or ride again.
This is just the start of a new chapter in my life and I'll find a way to make the most of what I've got, but I'm understandably somewhat gutted! It's very difficult for me to read so I won't be as active on here as I used to be, but keep an eye out for bargains as I'll be selling all my kit (some of it unused and still brand new).
Please don't text me as I absolutely cannot read them (screen too small - I've got Windows 8 and have the screen maximised to write this).
If you're struggling for the right words, the only appropriate one would appear to be "****".

bloody hell i know the clue was in the title but didn't expect to read this.
You sound upbeat but probably feeling gutted as would we all. I hope you can find some new found joy with the heightened other senses.
I'd go for hobbies in eating and music .
Just really feel for you

Gutted to hear this BM...
As little solace as this may be; I've found where life closes one door, it often opens another.

Christ Beermonster that must be nothing short of devastating.
It's time like this that remind me just how much we take things for granted.
Is this caused by a genetic trait, or is there anything we should perhaps be aware of mate.?

Re: The eyes no longer have it
As everyone else has said, I am really sorry and sad to here this, though words like that don't really give any sense of how you must feel.
I hope you can find the strength to find a silver lining somewhere to the problems you face.

There are no words other than ****. Good luck, as others have said it's not the end - another door will inevitably open, fwiw I've got family with a very similar issue, so I can guess how you feel right now. Chin up BM.

Only just read this Dave, and I haven't got the words...yes, **** but if I know you, you'll cope and cope admirably. Sending mega hugs, which I know aren't gonna change things, but just letting you know I'm thinking of you xx
Sorry I missed church, I was busy practicing witchcraft!
