That's a full on fire. I'm guess there was a fuel leak from the tank seeing as the fire is all over the place.

That's what whitham said. He reckons a high pressure fuel hose had split. Had to be fuel as if oil the bike wouldn't be running and would seize was his comment.

Perhaps Kawasaki are trialing heated seats to keep up with BMW accessory range

Yeah but airboxes don't burn like that. The amount of flames suggests fuel was present and there was a decent amount of it.

Some of the high pressure fuel rail, throttle body's , fuel injectors and associated hoses are located in the airbox so any fuel leakage here will allow a fire in the airbox which once the leaking fuel is ignited will spread very quickly.
