Paul Roberts was filmed by an Essex Police motorcyclist as he rode south on the M11 reaching the highest speed ever recorded in the UK by a rider carrying a passenger. The footage can be seen above.

Roberts, 43 of Malkin Drive Lane, Harlow, who runs a taxi firm in London, was riding to work on his Kawasaki ZZR 1400 with a friend as passenger on Friday September 12, 2014.

He joined the M11 at Hastingwood and was seen and followed by Pc Paul Hills who was involved in a motorcycle safety operation on the motorway.

148mph with a pillion. Fook me.

What a cock. If I was pillion I would have given him a good slap myself even before the old bill dealt with him. What a w@nker. Should be done for dangerous driving.

Roberts was eventually stopped near Chigwell and later summonsed for dangerous driving.

He admitted the offence and appeared for sentence at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday March 30, 2015.He was also ordered to do 120 hours community service, told to take an extended re-test and to pay £460 costs.

I think people need to be re-educated on how to use motorways in the UK. it would reduce so many problems on the road. A while ago they were supposed to be introducing fines for middle lane hogs but still every time i'm on a motorway i come across a tailback caused by people hogging the middle lane.

That guy "filtering" at 100mph was a bit foolish though.

I don't mind the filtering, it's the relative speed that worries me

^ Totally agree, something else which is starting to worry me, is the amount of people who do not stay between lines in their lanes on ALL roads, especially muppets who obviously cannot take corners at the speeds they are traveling at.

Have come across too many cars either in front or worse still coming towards me in this way, especially bad when I am on two wheel.

While I am on the rant, followed a big merc today, who went through a 30, 20, 40, 50, all at 45 miles an hour, I am guessing on the higher speeds as I slowed in the 20,30,40, But they were off into the distance, but along the 50 I was back up behind them a few times, on the route. The speeds was Varied along the route. These people do my head in, I bet he/she had no idea what speed they were doing on any part of that journey!!!! 20's were two school zones, and it was this morning during start times.

I followed a Range Rover over the Cat and Fiddle a couple of hours ago and he was way over the lines, even on right hand blind bends.

It's a big problem in the Peaks, especially with lorries

That will be cruise control.

Some cars now come equipped with technology that keeps the car within its lanes automatically though i think its only on dual carriageways/motorways that it work.
Guy on another forum was saying he let his VW Golf drive 8 miles on a quiet dual carriageway the other day letting his car use this technology and he didn't touch the wheel at all.

Fastest I've ever been on a bike (on road) was 270 km and that was as a pillion on a ZZR1100. But we were on an isolated road in the depths of the South Island in NZ not filtering on a bloody motorway!!! He deserves to get nailed for that.
Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.
