I had kangaroo over Christmas. Unimpressed tbh. Not worth it over beef IMO.
We have an ostrich farm up the road so that will get a visit during the year. I'd like to try it.

Ostrich is nice enough. Not a very strong flavour to it. It's very high in protein and low in fat which makes it popular with fitness freaks and bodybuilders.

Nice simple and healthy dinner...salad Niçoise. Pitty's away with work tonight, so I've no need to cook anything

That's a shame. My take on the Kangaroo steak was that it seemed very tasty.C00kiemonster wrote:I had kangaroo over Christmas. Unimpressed tbh. Not worth it over beef IMO.

I felt it's consistency was about that of a firm Rump.
It seemed to hold a good moisture content, and as such was more succulent.
It's flavor was far more gamey than beef, had almost a liver taste to it IMO.
I have had Ostritch, but it's been such a long time I've forgotten what I thought of it.!

Re: What are you eating ??
The kangaroo comments made me realize that I need to thaw some venison tenderloin. I have a half marathon this weekend and always reward myself with beer and steak afterward... Nom nom nom

Re: What are you eating ??
I normally have a variety of dried fruits, nuts etc at work to stop me eating mars bars and twix bars all day.
Last night I had half a roast piri piri chicken with some salad. It's a bit late to try and get my beach body but I've got to show willing

Re: What are you eating ??
In the evenings I've mostly been eating the chocs that Mrs Gee rejects, since all the kids in her class and the rest of the Staff loaded her with boxes of chocolates as birthday pressies a couple of weeks back. It's a filthy job but in the interests of domestic harmony I endure it.
However as I was cooking tonight we were eating chorizo, pancetta and pea risotto.
