Taking down the Christmas decorations.
Grocery shopping.
There's also a guitar part I spotted on youtube that I want to figure out how to play. (music)

Early morning drive to York hospital for an appointment with the consultant looking at my ligament in my thumb and it got cancelled after I got there. I had allowed nearly 2 hours so I was very early.
They managed to fit me in with another doctor who grudgingly cleared me to return to work as long as I was not going to be moving heavy cages so I'm on light duties until my next appointment in that clinic on 17th Feb.

I tried to sleep this afternoon but it wasn't happening. So now I'm double checking everything before heading to work on trunking runs, they're long shifts but no cage handling and the overtime will be welcome.

Also I think it should reset the sick pay so if they do decide to operate on my hand I will be on the higher rate again as that operation comes with 4 weeks in a plaster cast.

20-mile bike ride...windy as can be out there this morning. Feels like I've ridden 30. I'm not impressed.

I had to go in to the office. One of the assistants was leaving. I left the house at 06.50 and got home at 19.10.

Road closures and traffic jams for both journeys.

Lots of admin and a time wasting in the office.

I've got to go in to the office tomorrow. That's twice this week. This is outrageous.

Cycling. And laundry.
And rediscovering a whole slew of late-'90s cycling gear that's just begging to be worn again....assuming any of it still fits me, which is sheer optimism on my part, I suspect.

Cooking Sunday dinner in a power cut, very glad we decided to have a beef stew in the slow cooker and not make it into a pie, we have a gas hob so a stew and the veg can be done on that by head torch :D

All cooked and laid out, just sat down to eat and the power came back on after nearly 2 hours off.

One of the neighbours asked how we still had lights on, battery powered camping lanterns hung off the lampshades (y)

Probably (smirk)

I’m not going back for at least two weeks, so they should have recovered by then ;)

Sydney got hit by a massive storm a couple days ago. 200,000 homes without power including our area. We had no grid power for 20 hours and even though the battery was only at 43% when we lost it, we maintained power the whole outage which for us means we maintained internet/wifi calling (no mobile reception here) water supply (on rainwater tank supply only) lights, TV’s and most importantly the espresso machine (lol)

Very happy with that investment and it seeing us through that event. Was pretty smug watching TV while the rest of the street was in black out (giggle)

Today I had a visit to town to go to the bank to pay some cash in, a haircut, and a bit of shopping on my way home. I was going to wash the car but it was raining by the time I got home and now it's getting dark so that's another day.

Work at 9pm and in the morning I will call in to the local Hyundai dealer, it's across the road from work and my car's driver's rear window has stopped working, it's still under the 5 year warranty so I'm not even looking at it.

Watching the night sky, and seeing Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and Venus, with just a glimmer of Neptune (I think?) ...it's barely perceptible, I'm guessing because it's so low in the sky and the city lights are interfering somewhat.
It's still very cool to be able to see them all at once and with the naked eye.
They'll be visible tomorrow night too, or so I'm told.
