I can see reform getting a few seats. Lots of labour voters think they're going to win, so won't bother voting. Lots of Tory voters will simply not bother. It'll be like Brexit where there was a lot of apathy from Remain, so leave got it.

Agreed, I think this is going to be one of the lowest turnouts in history. If you look at the polling data Labour has a predicted huge majority with 3% less votes than they got in 2017, when they came second.

If ever there was an argument for PR, this is it.

Talking to some guys from Australia yesterday evening, it's illegal not to vote there and you get fined if you don't. we could learn a lot from Australia if we didn't have our heads so far up our own arses.

Looking at what is happening elsewhere, one can foresee a plausible train of events here.:
Labour in power, having inherited something of a poison chalice in respect of the state of things, are unlikely to have an easy time in government. They will inevitably be forced to make (many more) decisions that will be unpopular with their own supporters. Even then, the opposition will be handed constant opportunities to criticise both their policies & achievements.

Meanwhile the Conservative party loose membership to Reform, or (in an attempt to avoid imploding from a mass exodus) amalgamate with them. Either way a new stronger far-right party will be the likely outcome.

Come 2029, we may be facing the same threat that France Italy, Finland, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Sweden and the Czech Republic are seeing.

The fact that Monty may be first against the wall will be no real comfort, because I may not be as far behind him as some may perceive.

Not sure if I'd agree with that entirely...but I think it might make it more likely for extremism of one form or another to gain a foothold. 'Desperate times, measures, etc.'
