On Sunday 13th I broke stuff, mostly a friends bike but also my left collar bone, fractured my right wrist and 6 left ribs, thankfully at the back where they barely move. The doctors were very impressed that I was wearing a back protector and mentioned that it could easily have been my spine... I hit a pothole as I was sliding.

Anyone want to buy a minty 2023 GSA? Sergio and his wife were trying it out at the time so It's great, his S1000xr though...
I may have bought that as a restoration project, we're getting the frame inspected, if its good then I get to go to BMW with a box of tissues and a credit card, the parts bill is going to hurt.
Ouch. What happened?

I was being careful or so I thought, I saw a large water filled pothole ahead just past a left kink in the road and tapped the front brake at about 50, just as the front tyre hit something on the road, probably gravel but I was looking way further ahead.
Even the abs couldn't save that and as soon as my finger hit the brake lever, down it went... Stuff happens.
We are both fully comp so that's TPO on other bikes, we all have the agreement that if we damage anything it gets either repaired or replaced.

I have spent the afternoon re-working my finances so now the GSA is paid off, I have some cash in my savings account and my monthly outgoings are within £5 of the same. Seems like a good footing to get myself back up and running when my collarbone stops clicking and clacking.

I also got a trade in valuation from Superbike Factory of £11000 for a 10 month old, 7K mile GSA with full luggage and extras... That's just insulting. (swear)

I’m glad it was not worse.

Good job you didn’t hit anything big.

Always wear your gear….paid off having your back protector by the sounds.

Awww crap Stonsie, sorry to hear that.

Hope you heal up well, bikes come and go and there is only one of you. So take that as a win and don’t sweat too much the rest.

Cycling. Again.
Not feeling it today....in a good way. 20-mile road ride, and don't even feel remotely knackered. My time was on par with what I usually do, so maybe next time I'll up the pace a bit.
There was a surprise 'Thank You' card waiting in the mail for me when I got home. It has made my day. (rock)

Spending money

Sportsbikeshop have a sale on so a replacement helmet identical except 1 size up as the other did give me marks across my forehead and sometimes headaches.
AGV Tourmodular £469.99 down to £328.99

And a set of RST textiles, I've had RST before and they've been good but this jacket comes with a built in airbag system and is currently reduced by £200 to £249.98 but you do need to subscribe to the controllers app to activate the airbag, £120 a year... Sat here with a broken collar bone £10 a month doesn't seem so bad. I couldn't get the matching Paragon 6 trousers in any size smaller than 2xl, I'm a Medium so I got the visually similar Maverick trousers.
I'm certain that it was the hit to my left temple which forced the lower rim of the helmet into my collar bone and broke it.

Also had a chat with Sergio and came up with a figure to replace his bike with one from a local BMW dealer of the same year/spec/mileage and modify it to be an exact copy would cost £12.5K so that's the budget he has to get from me from the sale/trade of the GS which should cover that.

But now he's seen a Moto Guzzi V100s for about that figure, and also the Suzuki GSX S1000GX (Did a cat walk across the keyboard when they were naming that?) is available for around that money lightly used.

The XR is being looked at next week to see if the frame is good and if so that will be brought to me and signed into my name for me to rebuild and either use or sell... Already jumped on some parts on ebay which were really cheap as a collection. If the bike is scrap I can resell them and at least break even.

Washed, cleaned & lubed both mountain bikes, now currently debating on whether to do some exciting laundry or not.

I switched over to Wet lube on the weekend, made a surprising difference actually. It definitely stayed quieter for longer after entering a few puddles and mud patches at speed

Had Halloween here last night. The scary bit was both the daughters had new boyfriends over. Jess daughter is a couple years older than mine so her lad drove himself here. Now that made me feel old (lol)

Was actually a really good evening and the two lads seem like decent humans. Had to do a mercy dash down the hill as the self drive lads car broke down. Quick fix as I found a vacuum hose had come off his EFI inlet manifold.
