Nice one.
Been to gym, walked the dog, had my dinner. About to have a shower and put my feet up.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Dragging the kids round a medieval town in France. As usual they are not impressed and just want to go home and watch tv
Either that or they are glued to their iPhones.
I really do wonder if anything in life excites them these days. If you don't do anything they are bored, if you do things they are bored. If you suggest anything - it's boring and if you ask them what they want to do they don't know.
I sound like an old man, but I'm glad I grew up when things were exciting and I could strive for things and had ambition. None of them seem to these days
I don't think they aspire to do anything at all now. The news rams down their throats there are no prospects and most of the things they want (usually involving the internet or alcohol) are cheap and easy to get. They have given up on owning a house or getting a good job already, That's wrong.
Sorry, I've had the optimism beaten out of me this week, normal service will be resumed. That's better

I sympathise Cookie, my lad has just finished a two week sail trading course and when he got home he immediately made a bolt for the Xbox. It's like a drug.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Not just today, but the last four days have been insane. We are in shutdown out here, started the day I landed. So bringing all the systems down and gas freeing for maintenance. So shattered at the end of each day. I honestly feel more buggered each night than I did after the city2surf run. Hopefully it eases off after the place is gas free and the maintenance starts cause I don't think I can keep this up for three weeks!

Re: What are you doing today ??
Had the drain clearing people in this morning, all the water from the gutters on mine and next door, go down the pipe and into the ground on the side of my house, no drain as such, just straight in, anyway it not been soaking away, floods over the top of the gutter, down my wall causing all kinds of mess. I need to get sorted before the cold comes otherwise I will have a whole heap of trouble.
So he cleans it out, looking bad, it's not a drain, just a soakway, cheap short cut builders back in the 60's did a shoddy job
I seems to have a million roots from the trees, bushes, plants filling it up... Nightmare!! so now it looks like I need some serious digging to explore, if they can't shift it, then I am looking at the whole front garden being dug up, and a new soak away being put in!!!! Really did not need to hear that.
This is going to get expensive

Re: What are you doing today ??
No it's not, and it is not likely to be a cheap fix
On the plus side I know what may be wrong and have a solution to fixing it.
Oh yeah and I got him the foot the ladder when I went up to sort the connections at the top, as I have done some temp work to the water flow for now.
I made it to the top of the ladder, no bother, unlike last time... I think I just needed the confidence that the ladder was not going to slide away from under me. Happy days, well sort of ha ha

Frankie. A soak away is easy to build mate. Don't pay some builder to do a shoddy job. Hire a digger have some fun with the tonka toy and do a better job for half if not quarter of the price of having a builder taken short cuts.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Frankie, I sympathise completely, I've got a 60's house as well and there isn't a straight wall in the place (other than the ones I've done), I've had the house since 1986 and I'm still finding short cuts.
Take a couple of days off, hire a mini digger and a skip and stick a metre bag of rejects in the hole. Job done.

Sat in the sun at box hill just listening to the bikes coming in and out. Also waiting for a test ride on a 690 super duke.

Worth checking house insurance.Frankie wrote:Had the drain clearing people in this morning, all the water from the gutters on mine and next door, go down the pipe and into the ground on the side of my house, no drain as such, just straight in, anyway it not been soaking away, floods over the top of the gutter, down my wall causing all kinds of mess. I had a 300 year old house and all the drains had collapsed and tree routes everywhere.
They put cameras down then lined the drains. All covered on house insurance

Re: What are you doing today ??
My boss is on a 2 week holiday. My desk is covered in files with handwritten notes on them. It's going to be a long fortnight.
