All's quiet on the western front today.... rain stopped play.
So I guess instead I'll wrap a few gifts, play guitar, man the ramparts, sleep, etc.
I'm bored.

I'm still working. I've had one email all day and no calls. I've got nothing to do

Tidying, cleaning, drinking coffee, entertaining our over-tired Son and wanting to nap.. I also want to finish fitting my mountain bike front tyre and drink lots of alcohol.
Sent our Resident Kiwi a PM to wish him a Merry Christmas and feeling grateful I'm at home with my family for Christmas.

4.40 am wake up and into overalls
Fingers crossed the plant behaves and it will be a cruisy day. No maintenance activities today but as Ops I still have to keep the plant running.
They run few round robin games inside like darts, pool, table tennis etc and there will be a Christmas feed put on for dinner for both day and night shift crews.
Hope the rest of you slappers are lining up for a Merry Christmas and all have a drink for me!

Re: What are you doing today ??
Christmas is over so back into normal operations..
With manning numbers struggling I've been put in as Emergency Response Team Leader for the first time, and just managed my first emergency drill scenario. Luckily the current team are all guys I know and have worked with for years and well capable, so made things really easy for me. Just lets hope I only have to deal with drills till we finish up!

Recovering.
Drove to France yesterday and overnight - got here at 1am - ive never seen such bad driving weather - in both the UK and especially France.
Walls of water coming off lorries - literally no visibility. We had to stop twice for a break from the conditions - so dangerous, especially at night.
The wipers couldnt keep up , even at warp speed!

Re: What are you doing today ??
Last two days have been horrendous. We had a full plant shut down trip and have had to bring the place back up and in spec. I’ve got no night shift back to back as they did minimum manning for Christmas. But I’m also the only experienced Turbines tech on board so did a 15 & 14 hr day last two.
Place is steady again so hoping it’s an easier day cause I feel wrecked.
Hoping redundancy comes sooner than later to be honest.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Reducing myself to tears!
We're going away for a couple of days, and the Volvo has been a bit hesitant recently pointing to a clogged DPF. So I chucked a bottle of redex stuff in it and brimmed it from empty..
£108 !!!!!!!!!
Won't be doing that again in a hurry.

Re: What are you doing today ??
I brimmed the C4 from 1/4 tank for the bargain price of £80 this morning, and that was not super diesel, just standard Esso at £1.46.9, the super was £1.59.9.
This car does not like Tesco diesel, it starts up like it's been hit with a sledgehammer on that for some reason, nice and smooth on "Named Brand" fuel. But V-power made no difference to the economy, just my wallet.
Take the Volvo on the motorway in a gear lower than usual to get the DPF burned out, 15-20 miles should do it... Try not to think about the extra fuel you will be burning to do it though.
