Re: Overtaking police cars
Yep.
I talked to an ex traffic officer a while back and he said that often when you see police cars on the motorway driving slowly its the guys from the repair pounds taking them in for a service. They like taking the piss out of car drivers.
I tend to just overtake at the regulation 77mph

I just pass them at 80, never had an isssue, ha ha once I do that, the gaggle of cars who have been jostling for position behind the police car all become brave and go for it.

Seen them doing it regularly up and down the A12, they're normally sat there at dead on 50 with all the sheep sat behind them. Just whizz past at a normal speed, I've never had an issue in 25yrs on the road. If they're travelling at 70ish you know they're going off shift as it's always 40-50 for patrol and warp speed on a shout.

Re: Overtaking police cars
This reminds me of travelling up to Oban in a Skyline GTR, years ago.
Empty motorway, cop car on the inside lane doing 70. I crawled past at 73ish. Just as I was about to hit the fast pedal, cop car overtook me, pulled back into inside lane and slowed to 70 again.
This happened 3 times, and on the third time the cop in the passenger put a thumbs up and laughed. Then they let me go. Buggers lol.

Re: Overtaking police cars
I thought about this thread yesterday ... I was driving from Belfast to Dublin yesterday when two police bike riders came down the slip road and joined the motorway level with me ... I was already doing 30kmh over the limit and slowed down ... as soon as they had a clear road, these two riders just pinned the throttles and shot off never to be seen again ![Evil grin ]:)](./images/smilies/emoticon-0116-evilgrin.gif)

Re: Overtaking police cars
I had this thread on my mind yesterday as well.. On the way to work, down the M4 the traffic pattern look exactly like the picture. Everyone was anchoring up and slowing to 60-65, all for what ???? A fecking ambulance car
