Where do you buy tyres?
Where do you buy tyres?
Hi all,
I have a question for you and I don't mind what the answer is!
Where do you buy your motorcycle tyres?
• Local Motorbike Shop
• Main Dealer
• SportsBikeShop
• Demon Tweeks
• ProTyre
• EU mail order co. like MyNetMoto, Oponeo, MyTyres, Tyres Outlet, Moto Tyres or TyresPneusOnline
• eBay
• Specialist motorcycle tyre dealer like Two Tyres, FWR, TyreTec, StickyStuff, WheelHouse
• Other
Full disclosure, I run a motorcycle tyre shop (https://twotyres.co.uk) but I'm not trying to sell to you. I genuinely want feedback from bikers across the UK to better understand how you purchase tyres.
If you buy them from companies like MyNetMoto, Oponeo, MyTyres, TyresPneusOnline (who are registered in the UK but often based in Europe) what has been your experience with delivery times and additional delivery charges?
I know these companies claim to stock everything and when you order, they often struggle to deliver.
I'm interested in where you get your tyres from and the experiences of any members here, so thanks for your time.
Ben

Hi Ben.
A few of us use Addison Tyres in the West Midlands for supply and fitting.
I've never bought online.

Re: Where do you buy tyres?
I use a local bike garage for my tyres, I tried the online route and by the time I had paid for fitting it was no cheaper and more messing about taking loose wheels and tyres in the car.

Re: Where do you buy tyres?
Ive bought when on offer at the NEC show.
And i've bought on line.
But then I just found it a hassle to go and get the loose wheels and tyres to somewhere to be fitted. So generally i now just go to a localish dealer. For me it is the one by coleshill. forgot the name of the place now. A ride in ride out is just more convenient and nromally fitting is part of cost. I found buying them cheaper online didn't mean cheaper as was charged a big amount to be fitted.

I only ride track and will either buy brand new tyres 2nd hand from mates (changing racing championships etc) or from NoLimits and they waive the shipping and offer discount for Euro TDs.. it works out a good deal.

that's wheelhouse , I use them as does my son . It's fairly local and they generally have what you want .D6 wrote:Ive bought when on offer at the NEC show.

Re: Where do you buy tyres?
I take my lose wheels to GS Motor cycles tyres in Wokingham , always look after me for fitting. I have bought sets of tyres on line from various sources, and all have been good service. UK based and obviously European.
Saying that, when i have ordered on line, i am not in a position where i expect it to be next day, i am happy to wait, as i have given myself notice on when i need them. That way i am not getting all bent out of shape because they have not arrived yet. I then take them and the lose wheels to get fitted, which GS have no issues fitting.
Saying that all my most recent purchases have not been online ones. So i cant give real time feedback on what buying online is like now.

I use a local tyre shop, ride in bike tyres near reading. Nice bloke, knows his stuff, really looks after your bike, and is only a couple of quid more expensive than buying online and paying for loose wheel fitting.

Sorry for the late reply!
Thanks for your feedback and to answer your question, Brexit has meant that prices have gone up and supply can be difficult when it comes to non-common tyre sizes. However, it's tough to say what's Brexit and what's Covid-related. Factories are back into production now and we think it'll be 6 months until supply returns to normal.
All the best,
Ben
