Hasn't this been tried before with indifferent results?

In effect it's a 20% pay rise I doubt there's many workers that would complain about that , employers on the other hand may have quite a lot to complain about . I doubt that many employers would like to increase their labour costs by 20% or lose 20% productivity , I imagine that in a lot of small firms that would be more than enough to see them fail. Also how is 35 hrs a 4 day week ?

I work 35 hours a week according to my contract. But I have to take a one hour lunch break every day. In theory.

The truth is I'm paid for 7 hours a day. I have to record my time. 1 unit is 6 minutes. My fault target is 68 units a day, so I've got 12 minutes a day to do non chargeable work and personal stuff.

I guess that one less day a week makes for happier employees.... and happy employees are more productive employees. Or sommit like that, innit??

There is some science behind it. People feel that they have to get the work done because the working well is shorter.

There's fewer days in the week to leave work to another day.

I’ve experienced that in a slightly different way. When I first came to Aus I was contracting on C130 structural repair. 12 hr days, 3-4 week contracts, no days off. Because you had a slog ahead of you, everyone tended to pace accordingly.

I moved from contract to 8 hr days full time with a different company on the base and definitely felt I achieved more in a day as I wasn’t getting worn down and had 1/2 day Friday and weekends off.
