No commentator will never make a sport come alive the way he did. The excitement and pure passion in his voice was something else

Yep. His dad was a TT winner I think too.

Wiki tells me he commanded a Sherman tank during the last months of WW2, tried bike racing - without much luck, but did well as a competitive trials rider.
