That's how I thought all exhausts were. If you remove the cable it should default to open. That's certainly how it is on the Kawasaki.Kwacky wrote:Someone on the MV forum reckons that the resting position of the exhaust valve is open.

I'll disconnect the cable and then fire it up. There's a decent difference in sound.

Re: Kwackys MV Agusta F3 800 ongoing review
I was hoping over winter to get a replacement tank that I could get sealed, painted and swapped for the old one.
Sadly these tanks don't come up very often. I've had a couple of promising leads but they've not come to fruition.
I mentionedn it on a Facebook group and the owner of MV piped up and told me to email MV again, which I've done.
I'm not holding out any hope.
I'm the meantime I've put a request on a couple of Facebook groups and forum pages.
Recap: ethanol is in the plastic tank, it can't be sealed/wrapped/repainted.

Re: Kwackys MV Agusta F3 800 ongoing review
I've put a complaint in to MV Agusta again in the hope of a response.
Last time they sent me to the dealer, the dealer said they had no response from MV, so I went back to MV and they stonewalled me.
I sent an update email to MV and they've come back to me to tell me they've asked DMC Birmingham to submit a technical report. Hopefully DMC will get their finger out this time, but I don't hold up much hope.

My local MV dealer has been in touch this evening. They'll come and collect the bike to take to the workshop, inspect it and send a report to MV.

They didn't do the paperwork properly on the MT-10 I traded in there, so I hope they look after you better than they did me.Kwacky wrote:Hopefully DMC will get their finger out this time, but I don't hold up much hope.
That exhaust is naughty looking

Re: Kwackys MV Agusta F3 800 ongoing review
I'm not expecting much to be honest. The bike is almost 6 years old now so MV are unlikely to be interested.
The dealer did tell me back in August they were putting a claim in for some other work and I never heard back from them.

I'm surprised I had the MV out of the garage that early in the year

Re: Kwackys MV Agusta F3 800 ongoing review
It's the original OEM chain and sprockets on the bike. There's nothing wrong with them but I'm half tempted to get them replaced while the bike is in for an inspection.

I like the way the offset to the end of the pipes is different from that at the end of the cans.Kwacky wrote:Welding porn

Re: Kwackys MV Agusta F3 800 ongoing review
I've asked for a quote for the supply and fit for a new battery and a chain and sprocket set. I may as well get them sorted while they've got the bike.

They don't do fast in Italy.
The dealer submitted a claim to MV. They're waiting for MV to respond.
They're keeping the bike for now. The MOT is up at the end of the month. I'll want the bike back by then.

Re: Kwackys MV Agusta F3 800 ongoing review
Unsurprisingly MV aren't interested in repairing or replacing the tank.
So I'm going to patch it up and get rid of it.
