Re: Everything Photography
So here's something I'm curious about.. If you shoot in black and white does the camera actually shoot in black and white or is there a trick.
I opened a black and white raw (CR2) in preview on my mac and despite the thumbnail being in black and white the preview was colour !!

There's no benefit to shooting in black and white.. you may as well shoot colour and then you have 2 for the price of 1 once you edit it to black and white.

the camera always shoots in colour , all effects incl b&w are done by the electronics .

Re: Everything Photography
Not sure I'd 100% agree. If your looking for a B&W image, shooting in B&W gives you immediate feedback on the composition. If the raw image is always colour then you get your 2-4-1.Cav wrote:There's no benefit to shooting in black and white.. you may as well shoot colour and then you have 2 for the price of 1 once you edit it to black and white.

Re: Everything Photography
I take your point, however, on the flip side of that coin you may take an image that you think will look great in B+W but when you get it back into lightroom you realise it's better in colour but it's too late as you only have the B+W image.
There's certainly nothing wrong in shooting in B+W. I just prefer the safety net of colour.

Re: Everything Photography
Hmmm......perfect circles don't occur in nature, so I suppose that a perfect arc/orbit, etc. is also not possible??
Or something along those lines??

I'll need to Google it because we all know my memory isn't great, but I'm reasonably sure that the earth has a little wobble to it, like it resonates.

The Earth's circumference is also not uniform.... it's "fatter" around the Equator than around the poles - not by much...around 100 miles or so, if memory serves.

Yeah..... I'm experiencing a "lower centre of gravity" myself these days. Handling hasn't improved, sadly.

OK, so this photography stuff isn't as easy as it looks... I think I'm getting a little better, but there is a lot more to learn yet..You never really learn to swear until you learn to drive.

Are you kidding?? Look at all those colours in the first photo.....it looks great.
The bottom pic looks like Alderaan, right before-....well, we all know what happened to Alderaan. Shame about that.

Every time I go out with my camera I am learning something new, what not to do, and what works.... thats what make it fun. The other night i tried to to get some stars and a shiny moon.

Re: Everything Photography
Post processing.
So what do you use?
I've started a trial with lightroom, but the subscription model is a tad pricey. I'm using a Mac if it makes any difference to suggestions.
