Took Mrs C to the local and very friendly Triumph dealer to test a Street Twin. We've been going out with her on pillion a little this year and the Street still handles well with someone on the back and I'm confident with a pillion now so she was glad to get off once we got to the dealer
Once a quick signature was completed, the dealer filled it with fuel and off we went. We had the Street Twin for about 2 hours and i rode it for about 20 minutes.
It's a giggle that's for sure and its proper retro. This one had the Vance & Hines loud cans on it and what a noise! Pops and burbles everywhere. Not sure if it would be too much on a long ride, but fun anyway. It's quicker than i thought when you wind it up, but you do need to do that and as a Sunday tool it would be perfect for razzing round all the countryside we have out here.
Mrs C has a lot to think about as she's always been a sportsbike girl and this is the complete opposite. I'm used to naked bikes now and torquey bikes too, but she's now got half the rev range that she's used to so she's sleeping on it whether to get one or keep looking. We might go and test a couple more different bikes to be sure. She's also going to go out on mine again this week now she has a benchmark.
What it did tick was the low seat height box. We tried to turn round at one point and ended up in a dead end, on a big slope on a rubble roadway. She dealt with it easily, which wouldnt have been the case on the CBR RR.
I took it out for 20 mins while she did a bit of local shopping and it's good fun to rag round corners - i'd even say it turns in just as well as the Street Triple, which is saying something. It's tops out just after 7.5k revs i think, but keep it spinning and it gets a shift on.
On a private road nearby i managed 180 kph, which is more than enough

. It is softer than i'm used to, but as a tool for having fun its very well made.
