Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
I see even the right wing Tory press are laying into the Government over their complete lack of testing and getting the right chemicals to test with.
Apparently the rest of the world got in before us.

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
So is riding your bike in isolation for 1 hour classed as exercise?

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
It'd be classed as a low-impact exercise (hopefully results in a no-impact exercise too!).
You don't go aerobic when you're doing it, and nothing even remotely approaching anaerobic, either.
But it's a broad question...you can certainly get a decent workout when you're riding a bike, but it's not going to be very beneficial to you from a physical standpoint...you're not going to improve yourself from riding a bike, you need something else to bolster that, a base to work from.

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
As it currently stands the police have no power to stop you going out unless you are suspected of being infected or are in a gathering , it is against advice and guidelines but I don't believe those are legally enforceable .

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
They can fine you but if you then keep going toward your destination I presume they will just keep fining you?! Also, the fines increase every instance.

They can warn you, fine you, or arrest you.
Same as with everything else the police deal with.

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
Schedule 21 and 22 of the coranavirus Act deal with police powers and they only apply if you are suspected of being infected or are at an event or gathering , they have no extra powers to detain and question you , it is obvious this legislation was rushed through there are for instance no absolute rules concerning what is and what isn't essential , I can see a lot of appeals and compensation in the future if the police decide to enforce guidelines and advice .

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
Just been speaking to my baby brother who lives in Barcelona. They are 3 weeks in to their total lockdown, and no one is allowed out at all enforced by a 600 euro fine.
Only one person per vehicle, and shopping is one person per household unaccompanied.
Little bro' is exempt (classed as key worker) & said that when he's out and about it's like a scene from 28 Days Later.

Found on Facebook, but very apt given the current circumstances.

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
That's a fairly well-known old wartime photograph...and a misinterpreted one at that.
They're not in a minefield...the donkey, or mule, or whatever it is was lame, abandoned, & too weak to walk.
The whole minefield yarn was added during the Korean War, IIRC.
Or the Vietnam War. Sommit like that.

Fwiw I don't mind if the actual context of the picture was different. Imho the image, together with those well chosen words, conveys a powerful message that is likely to be more readily absorbed.
