Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
Would probably need to be more like 14 to cover the period of coming in to contact, developing symptoms and then getting rid of it again.....
I can see UK and other countries going same way as Italy soon.

I think~~although I'm not sure~~that isolating the original source is a big part of finding a cure, and so far authorities in China haven't been able to do that yet.

And I believe it’s constantly mutating so no 2 people have exactly the same ‘virus’....

John Hopkins University have a portal with proper figures you can monitor and educate yourself, rather than all these stats being thrown about. Might be useful..

Oh no! Tom Hanks & his wife have both tested positive for Coronavirus while staying/working in Australia on a new movie about Elvis (I think?).

A mate of mine has just flown out to the USA from Switzerland for a meeting on Friday. He's trying to find a quick way home. He might come back to the UK as those flights are still open. 1

Sounds sensible - at least then he's in Europe (geographically)..Kwacky wrote:A mate of mine has just flown out to the USA from Switzerland for a meeting on Friday. He's trying to find a quick way home. He might come back to the UK as those flights are still open. 1

Some NHS workers who go abroad are now being told to self isolate for two weeks when they return.
One thing this has shown is how absolutely useless Governments and politicians are when there really is a crisis.

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
It's alright, Boris has told us to expect a few deaths. No need to panic.

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
Listening to the medical officer at the press conference he was asked about deaths.
He didnt say but did say 80% of the population will get it and their worst case assumption is 1% mortality.
That's 560 thousand people based on 70mil population.

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
Fwiw I awoke at around 2.40am this morning, with a persistent dry cough, chest tight & sweating feverishly.
I lay there awake, my semi-conscious mind considering where I may have contracted Covid-19 and (more concerning) who I could have recently infected without realising I was a carrier...
My mind wondered into many avenues of consideration. During that period I "figured out" that the virus is fairly mild in most people,,,,, the first time..
... However (like that other Coronavirus; the Common Cold) infection does not leave us resistant,,,,
,,, and that the reason that Li Wenliang (the Chinese whistleblower doctor) died was that each time we are infected, our body's reaction becomes increasingly severe. By the third time it becomes fatal (even to the young, who seem largely unaffected by their first exposure) ..
This morning I awoke, symptom free..
