So will the Scots now push to leave the UK? Johnson has said he'll refuse to allow another referendum on the subject.

Scotland is pro EU. At the last referendum the UK told Scotland that it would remain in the EU, that's no longer the case.

The SNP is all about pro-Eu and pro independence.

Is there the hunger north of the border for another push at a referendum vote? Scotland in the UE would see a lot of trade diverted away from England is it'll be easier to use Ireland as an EU goods stage post.

The big issue for Scotland is its current reliance on the UK for funding.

I think re unification of Ireland will be on the agenda too over the next 5-10 years.

It will come as no surprise to any of you, that I'm a staunch advocate for a uniform legislation ( ie a United Kingdom)
I was delighted that the outcome of last Scottish referendum was a majority wishing to maintain the UK.

However,,,

The situation now is manifestly unfair, and they should be allowed to choose if they would still like to be associated with little england or "stand alone" (as we seem to have decided that we want to).
To deny them that choice in this circumstance appears to me to be both hypocritical & unjust.?

Judging from the results a Untied Ireland looks to be highly probable too.?

Neither Wales or Scotland have their own central bank or currency, that I think is one of the criteria for entry into the EU.
Although I may well be wrong about that, I don't think that Scotland would be re-admitted to the EU as Spain would block it
simply because if the basque areas and all the other parts of Spain that want independence would kick off.
A unified Ireland I can see happening eventually, but not the mainland UK breaking up.

Just my opinion, others quite obviously are available.

The Bank of Scotland would easily take the role. I think that was the plan discussed last time they were looking at independence.

I don't think a single country can block membership can it? I thought applications went through the commission? I would have to Google if.

Everyone has to be on board with it. Croatia joined a few years ago, and I remember reading that Serbia wasn't too happy about it, as Croatia could block their plans to join in five or ten years, or whenever-the-feck they're joining.
Dunno if it's something they vote on, or someone just raises an objection. Or starts a war...

I don't know. I guess it'll have to be assessed when they declare a national bank. I suspect it'll start day 1 trading at the same level as sterling

Johnson can just ignore her if that's what he wants to do. It's petulant but that's his decision. There's a legal challenge as the UK guaranteed Scotland EU membership which is being taken away from them.

They can declare independence and ask the international courts to acknowledge them.

I was joking but perhaps a bad joke, although personally I cant tolerate the woman.

Regards naming calling in politics I'm not bothered if people call politicians as most deserve it tbh. To be fair where I ve took exception in the past is when there is a generalised, stereotype name calling that is aimed at those with a different political view, for example everyone who voted for brexit is idiotic and racist etc....

Regards independence, Im really not bothered and if they want to leave, let them. I personally wouldn't force anyone to be part of something they dont want to be.
