Took it off the Optimate, I don't leave it on all the time even though I could without hurting the battery. It get's a week a month through winter and the engine is not started unless I'm taking it out for a ride.

Gave the Versys a big scrub. On Friday night the slip road for the motorway was shut so I ended up going a very long way home. The bike was covered in dirt, leaves, road salt and what looked like grass mulch.
The bike has had some more ACF grease applied and ACF50 sprayed on.
I've adjusted the clutch cable as well as it's stretched. I might get a new one as a precaution.

I gave the BMW a quick jetwash and wipe down. Adjusted, cleaned, and lubed the chain. Blasted the disks and pads with brake cleaner to shift the loose crap that I'd picked up.
You can really see where the winter is starting to affect parts not ACF'd, like the chain and disks.
Really wish I could have done another ACF coating, but I think it's going to be another month or so before she's dry again.

Put some on a rag and wipe it. It'll still offer some benefit.

Cool, I'll touch up a few of the more exposed bits.Kwacky wrote:Put some on a rag and wipe it. It'll still offer some benefit.
How much of the ACF coating do you reckon a jetwash will take off. Much as I'd like to leave the jetwash in the shed, there bike is caked in crap after 2 days at the moment. Fecking country lanes.

Best thing you can do imo is give the bike a really good clean, ACF it then leave it over winter. Just look after the key parts like brakes and the chain.

Does the guy still travel to home to do the winter protection thing? Think he was based in Newbury.

I struggle to see how they make a living from it at that price.

I'm so glad I washed the bike yesterday.........
Horrible wet weather this morning. Very light rain but loads of standing water on the roads, so dirty spray everywhere.

I've heard this. Been looking to get some, but it is always £7 postage for these type of products. Need to order some though as it is just filthy on the roads.duke63 wrote:Got to be wirth £80. The XCP stuff is now supposed to be better than ACF

It was the same here this morning, just a little less muddy on the roads as we had really heavy rain over the weekend.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
It's nights like tonight that make me appreciate spending money on top quality gear.
It was pissing it down, gusts of wind, standing water, road spray - all the crap you don't want to face.
I was bone dry when I got home.
