General Election 2019?
I'm watching the debate in the Commons.
SNP making it clear they want to stop brexit and will leave the UK if they're ignored. They also want votes for 16 and 17 year olds.
Tories want one on 12th December.
Labour want one on the 9th or 10th to allow students to vote.

Re: General Election 2019?
Fwiw I would like Lib-dems to get in just once, and introduce proportional representation (like they always said they will).
That way people may be more inclined to vote, even if their preference is contrary to the "safe seat" of the constituency they live within.

I have no idea who I should vote for or why any of them are worthy of my vote to be honest. What have any of them done that positively affects any of us?!

Re: General Election 2019?
We can't even leave the EU so doubt the Scots will up and leave as simply as they think plus they have to vote and they didn't want to leave can't see that changing regardless of leaving EU.
Also 16 and 17 year olds the votes. No way. They aren't even allowed to drink or smoke so how can they vote in political matters. Won't happen. They only want it because they think the youngsters will make it a decisive win for Remain campaign.
Pathetic in all honesty.

Re: General Election 2019?
The SNP control Scottish parliament and the SNP had previously drawn up an agreed plan for leaving the UK so it wouldn't take them long to get out.
Scotland voted by about 2/3rds to remain in the EU so I reckon they'll want to be EU members in the future.
If 16 year olds can offer their lives for our country why can't they vote for it?

Re: General Election 2019?
But surely they have to vote to get out of the UK regardless of whether they have got a plan or not. The Scots have a lot tied to the UK, i doubt they would just up and leave easily, I can imagine a lot of arguments. All you got to do is see what the EU has done to the UK. Fractions would happen.
They can't give up their lives at 16 they have to be 18. 16 is a joining age to train and to go to college but not allowed to go overseas to go on the front line. Military has always been early ages. There are kids out there who have had nothing and the military have been there to offer a good package to them. If they could go on front line and if 16 and 17 year olds could vote, why can't they go and start smoking, buy a point or 10 down the local boozer, go and work full time as a police officer, why can't they become a prison officer with serial killers, pedos etc
You see where this could go.

Yes Rossgo, they would have to have a vote.Rossgo wrote:But surely they have to vote to get out of the UK regardless of whether they have got a plan or not. The rest of that paragraph sounds like you believe the Scots would be better staying in the Union.

Re: General Election 2019?
I realise the SNP are in Parliament but I don't believe the Scots really will follow through with leaving the UK. Our roots are strong together and they know that

Re: General Election 2019?
I don't think anything is certain anymore.
I have no idea at this point in time which way i would vote, other than i would not vote for Johnson and his cronies.
If LibDems introduced PR i would vote for them.
If Labour genuinely believed in a customs union i might vote that way IF it meant stopping the Tories.
Of all of them though i am inclined to vote for the Greens, as my vote will make sweet fa of a difference but at least it gives the Green Party and environmental issues some credence.
This might also be the last GE i vote in.

Re: General Election 2019?
So the proposed amendments are:
- include 16 and 17 yr olds
Change the date of the GE to 9th December
Change the date of the GE to 26 March
Hold a referendum on 26 March
Include registered EU nationals

They've just voted for a general election in 12 December. It's got to go to the Lord's first.

Re: General Election 2019?
Maybe so, but there is an opportunity to all vote for or against Brexit. Lib Dems are at least saying stop Brexit - i hope people vote away from Tory and Labour tbh. Both are useless.duke63 wrote:Past caring. **** the lot of them.

Re: General Election 2019?
I don't agree with the Lib Dems stating, "vote for us because it isn't a vote for Corbyn".. otherwise I'd be game for it.
Also, I feel like by this point we may as well continue with Brexsh!t seeing as a lot of damage is already done and it would be a shame to have gone through this in vain

Re: General Election 2019?
16 year olds the vote, how messed up can that be! Seriously they aren't even adults. People pick and choose what they want to see but they are kids let them be kids. They don't want that on their shoulders. A quick google suggest that S. American countries let their children vote at 16 excluding 2 British island's.
Why do you guys want 16yo to vote? They would be in GCSE year and you want them to get caught up in all that crap as well as their exams...you mad?!
