Rang Youles and they say £18-19k and they have 10 deposits put down today between their 2 stores and reckons it will be sold out by the end of this week.

He said the Rocket TFC sold out in 3 days and people are now offering over book price to get hold of one.

Honda didn't sell a Moto2 special because they already had the cbr600rr and that was selling pretty well.

Until now there wasn't a Daytona 765

I kinda figure if Honda were to sell a Moto2 mid-middleweight (or whatever you want to call it) bike it would just take away from either their 600 or 1000 sales. What does Honda sell per year...15 or 20 million bikes?? - Some insane numbers.
They'd be selling the horse to buy a saddle.

It's a collector's item. I don't think Triumph are worried about the price of a used production bike. They know it'll still regardless because their buyers aren't Fast Bike readers buying the latest jap missile to win this week's group test ride.

I get that but if I was looking to shell 18k I would be looking at the whole market and what my 18k could get me.

Granted plenty of Triumph fans and collectors will jump in, but imo for people wanting the pinnacle of sportsbikes to own they will always look at the competition too, so it has to be very good is all imms saying.

The person who buys special edition bikes isn't always buying for the reasons you and I would.

I suspect they will end up as collectors items in the main.

I don't think I have ever seen an RCV road bike other than at a show.

To me its going to be a great bike but not worth 14k to upgrade for me in my position. Collectors will love it but as a rider and not a collector it just hasn't got the value in it for me.

An MV F3 RC is about £15k , so an extra £3k for moto2 heritage and branding and the opportunity to own a bit of British biking history doesn't seem too bad to me , I don't think it has to prove itself to be significantly better than its opposition in order to justify the price

But you're basing that on very little information.

We really don't know what they're offering other than a new Daytona with a 765cc engine. It might have ISR or Beringer custom master cylinders, discs, calipers etc with carbon wheels, Harris rearsets, and specially designed tyres. The body work could be carbon. You might get a free day at a suspension specialist, your own tracker for lap times. Or it could be an old 675 Daytona.

The rocket and thruxton limited editions went in no time. Nice paint jobs and some bling is all it takes for some people.

I guess the Daytona buyers know they'll be able to sell their bikes if they don't like them.

I wonder what kind of deal Triumph had to strike with Dorna in order to get the moto2 branding , that may well be a factor in the pricing .

Triumph seem very shrewd I suspect they made it part of their deal to Dorna to supply engines and Dorna owe Triumph
