Re: I feel the need
Oh dear. Looks like bits of the old one with older people.
I'd watch the plane bits but they won't be getting my money.
Easy money for the studio but a shame to dilute the legacy of the original.

Money over-riding art. Looks shite to me. Why mess with the original?
Sometimes its best things left as they were and in the time they were.

Re: I feel the need
The trailer has some good flying footage and like Cookie that would be the only reason for me to watch it. I struggle to watch Tom Cruise for some reason and the struggle harder with the aeronautical inaccuracies due to my back ground. The original came out just before I joined the RNZAF and I thought it was a bit meh personally, but the amount of people that joined because of it put me off it even more.
The bit I do like of the original is the A4 Skyhawks scenes (Aircraft the instructors/aggressors flew) as that’s the aircraft I maintained during the majority of my service.
I’ll watch it, but not at the theatres.

Re: I feel the need
In slightly associated news, I recently found the 8mm HUD tape from my last Skyhawk flight (I had two) and I got to do a bit of flying/aero’s that flight so might have to get it digitalised.

It'll be good but not great, and at the same time better than people expect. It's not like the original was a cinematic masterpiece, was it??

I always liked the F-5/T-38s masquerading as MiGs...they're a very "pretty" jet...great curves.kiwikrasher wrote:

Totally agree with this, rare that the remakes are as good let alone an improvement.:duke63 wrote:Money over-riding art. Looks shite to me. Why mess with the original?

Re: I feel the need
It's not a remake, it's a sequel. They're not hashing out the same old storyline, they're hashing out a new one.

I’d have a rebellion on my hands if I didn’t take Mrs Gee, it all depends on story and character as to whether I enjoy it - plus I get to book a restaurant for after!Blade wrote:I guess I'm on my own here but Im looking forward to it tbh.
